About Azzurra D.
At the age of eight years old, during history class, I found out that a famous Italian explorer on the 12th of October had discovered "a new world."
Apparently, from what was written in my textbook, since that very day, from out of the gloom of the dark age, with its plagues and invasions, the Renaissance had begun. It was an age marked by the study of classical sources and the development of new customs and diplomacy. "Man is the measure of all things," is what a Greek philosopher of the 5th century B.C. said. This concept is the motto of Humanism, which became manifest in art, architecture, politics, science and literature.
This cultural movement began in Tuscany, in the same region of Italy as my mother was born. This connection with my roots made me travel tirelessly from the rolling hills of Tuscany to the damp Roman undergrounds.
I studied Art History and Iconography at Rome's Sapienza University and the desire to live among the beauty of the Eternal City pushed me to study to become a tour guide. This passion for Art and History continues until today and the smiles of my clients is the proof that following one's passions is best path to choose.
Being a tour guide is an amazing profession that I wouldn't trade for anything!
I worked for some time as a summer camp counselor with children - entertaining them with my stories, organizing games and activities to amuse them, and leading them on all kinds of adventures.
As a tour guide I am still able to share my knowledge and energy with sometimes a slightly older audience, but the reactions are still the same- wonder and amazement! That is what makes this job so satisfying.
My favourite tours? Definitely our Vatican Museums and St. Peter's Basilica Early Morning Private Tour, and the Rome City Center Private Walking Tour.
I love being inside the Vatican at the quiet start of the day, when it feels so much more peaceful than usual, and I truly enjoy sharing the beauty of my city with guests from all over the world.
My tours are focused on the fun side of art and ancient history and can include an optional academic perspective.
Come to Rome where I'll treat you as my personal guest, sharing the hidden secrets of this amazing city!

Reviews About Azzurra D.
Our experience with Azzurra was amazing! She had so much knowledge about the Vatican and went into a lot of depth about the history of the art and buildings of Rome and the Vatican. Even waiting before the Vatican opened she kept us engaged by using photos to help explain things and prepare us for the things we were about to see. Azzurra gave us a real sense of how the Vatican came to be in its current location and pointed out different places of Rome that were impacted by the Vatican.

An Unforgettable Day in Rome with Eyes of Rome & Azzura! Our one-day tour of the Vatican, Colosseum, and Roman Forum with Eyes of Rome was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel to the final drop-off, everything was flawlessly organized and stress-free. What truly made the experience unforgettable was our guide, Azzura. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of this eternal city, but also one of the kindest and most genuine people we’ve ever met. Her warmth and hospitality made my wife, our four children, and I feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout the day. Azzura’s storytelling brought the ancient ruins to life in a way that captivated both the adults and the kids. Her ability to engage and connect with our family made the day both educational and deeply meaningful. If you want to experience Rome the right way—learning its rich history while feeling like you’re touring with a close friend—I strongly recommend booking with Eyes of Rome and requesting Azzura. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Grazie mille, Azzura!
We had an absolutely amazing experience touring all levels of the Colosseum in Rome with our guide, Azzurra. She was so knowledgable and personable, it was a highlight of an amazing time in Rome.
OMG it was awesome. More than 3 hours tour, and our guide Azzurra, was extremely knowledgeable and kind. This visit was 100% worth every penny.
Gracias Azzurra
Our guide Azzurra was incredible! We had so much fun and learned so much!! We would definitely recommend this experience to anyone.
Our guide Azzurra was perfect. Her knowledge of art and history made every step of our tour enlightening, and she answered all our questions in detail. The collections of beautiful and ancient things that we saw were more wonderful than we could imagine. Our time was well spent and we never felt rushed or overcrowded. We also had the very special experience of being led in prayer by a priest in the Sistine Chapel.
Azures was an amazing guide. She was so passionate about history, had a great way of keeping our teenager engaged and could answer every single question she threw at us. It made an extraordinary experience even more magical. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Azzurra for your touring around Rome!
Amazing Tours with Eyes of Rome (second time) We visited Rome a couple of years ago - and l happed to select Eyes of Rome for some tours. I wrote a review back then - we were *super* happy with our experience. 2 years later - we were heading back - 3 of us who had been on the first trip, and one additional person. I reached out to the team at Eyes of Rome - and they immediately thanked me for coming back to them - and were able to pull up all of the details from our first visit with them. Given what we had seen before - and the fact we had one new traveler - they crafted an amazing itinerary so that our new traveler got to see everything, and for the 3 original travelers there was a new approach to some of the visits that made the second time just as much fun. During our first trip we met Marta - who was amazing. You can just tell how much she loves her country and culture - and she is so amazingly smart, and always made sure we had a great understanding an appreciation for everything we got to see. Since we knew it was going to be very warm - we broke our tours up into mornings and later in the day - giving everyone some time to rest and freshen up between the tours. On the first morning - Daniel picked us up and we met Marta near where our tour was to begin. We visited the Hypogeum (Colosseum's Underground), which we hadn't seen on our first visit to the Colosseum. We also visited the Imperial Roman Forum. Marta picked out an amazing traditional place for lunch - and we even managed to convince her to eat with us :) Daniel picked us back up in the late afternoon, and dropped us off with Azzurra for our evening food and wine tour. We walked through the charming areas of Campo de' Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. Near the famous piazza of Campo de' Fiori we visited an artisan deli where we enjoyed some Roman wine paired with typical Italian delicacies from a family who has specialized in cured meats since 1890. In the Jewish Ghetto - we were able to sample the famous fried artichoke which was paired with a really wonderful bottle of Prosecco. We also stopped at a great Gelato shop before our tour was over - which was the best way to end this amazing tour! The next day - we did a nice walking tour with Marta - that included the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain. Marta really made the Roman culture and history come alive! During our first trip, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel were very crowded - so the team suggested we do a late afternoon / evening visit. It was a great suggestion, and although it was still busy, it was much less crowded than our first visit. We were with Marta again - who explained so much about everything we saw. We were happy to be back. We worked with Eyes of Rome to get a ride from Rome to the cruise terminal. Luca met us promptly and we had a smooth, trouble free ride and made it to our ship without problem. Our cruise shipped docked in Pisa - but didn't have any tours that we were interested in. Luckily I found out that Eyes of Rome covers Pisa and Florence too! Tomasso met us at the cruise terminal - and was our driver for the day. He was great! Our first tour was Pisa. We met Anne Marie right near the tower. Anne Marie did an amazing job of telling us all about Pisa, the tower, and the history of both. Tomasso then drove us to Florence where we met Giada. She knew Florence like the back of her hand and was *so* excited to show us around. It was a quick visit, but we were able to visit of Accademia Gallery with Michelangelo's David which was truly amazing. We walked around Florence with Giada who explained so much about the history and the culture. She also helped us visit a typical Florentine shop for the best sandwich any of us have ever eaten in our lives! Tomasso then drove us back to our ship and made sure we arrived in plenty of time. We *loved* our second tour with Eyes of Rome - and will definitely check back with them when we return to Italy
Azzurra was the perfect tour guide! Knowledgeable, warm and an absolute pleasure. Do yourself a favor and hire Azzurra as your private guide!
Touring the Vatican with Azzurra was like experiencing it with an expert friend. She navigated us easily between the crowds and took time along the way to preview upcoming important pieces with photos on her iPad, so that we could fully focus on and experience the meaningful and historical treasures without having to worry about following and listening to a guide on a headset with a group of people. We loved her sense of humor and vast knowledge, the way she answered all our questions and seemed to pick up on what interested us most along the way. Being picked up at our hotel made it super easy and Azzurra’s lunch spot recommendation was the perfect way for us to share our experiences with each other afterwards. Highly, highly recommend Eyes of Rome and the fabulous Azzurra in particular!
When they say “ skip the lines” they aren’t kidding. Azzurra breezed us through and congestion. I’ve never had any interest in art history but Azzurra made it come to life for my husband and I. We learned so much in a very enjoyable way. The beauty of the Vatican and the political influence of the pope was so interesting. We weren’t rushed through the Sistine Chapel and had as much time as we wanted in St Peter’s Basilica. We chose the private tour with hotel pick up and drop off. Expensive but it’s a once in a lifetime experience. Do it!
One of the highlights of our trip! We feel so lucky to have gotten to take this private tour with Azzurra. It started off with the luxury of having Azzurra waiting for us in the lobby of our hotel to then be whisked off in a private car to the Vatican. Azzurra was very knowledgeable and full of fun and interesting facts on the history of the art and the church. The Sistine Chapel was awe-inspiring, and then we were taken straight away to the exclusive connecting stairway from the Sistine Chapel to St. Peter's Basilica (which itself is a sight to see, and a nice reprieve from crowds), there we continued to find more beautiful sights, the whole way lead by Azzurra giving us the background. After the tour concluded, Azzurra was kind enough to give us some local highlights to do in the area, which we found to be above and beyond. Truly the best part of this tours was that it felt like we were on an outing with a friend, not on a tour with a cookie-cutter scripted guide. THANK YOU SO MUCH TO AZZURRA! And take this tour! It's worth every penny!!
I only had 1 day to explore Rome so I booked the best - Eyes of Rome through Viator. When the nice black sedan picked us up at our Airbnb, our guide was sitting shotgun and started telling us about Rome immediately. The tour was supposed to be only Vatican-specific, but I felt we got a big bonus having a knowledgeable guide with us while the car moved from one part of town to the other. I look for and appreciate the expertise a Blue Badge Guide brings to the tour and our Guide ( I wish I could remember her name) was - knowledgeable, easy to understand, and thoroughly enjoyable.
Our early morning tour of The Vatican museums, The Sistine Chapel and St Peters Basilica was amazing. Azzurra was an incredible tour guide - extremely knowledgeable , friendly , funny and engaging. My husband and I loved it !
Your guide ( Blue ) was excellent. The tour was great. Gongratulations. The basilicas até wounderful.
Azzurra was our tour guide and she was amazing. She made us feel so welcomed and explained everything so well in spanish. She was also so kind and patient since we had a one year old in our group. Thank you so much, Azzurra!
Azura was absolutely amazing! Incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and answered all our questions. A great way to see the Vatican and understand the history. Thank you!
Azzurra was such a wonderful guide on our private tour! She took the time to explain everything and answer our many questions. We had a wonderful time on our private tour!
What a great tour! We loved being able to skip the lines and having our own guide. Azzurra was wonderful! She is incredibly knowledgeable about Rome’s history and really brought it all to life for us. We could not have asked for a better tour or tour guide!
Private transport on time. Azzurra, our guide, is passionate by her job (history, architecture, religions, story telling) very friendly, knowledgable, passionate. She gave us a lot of information verbally and using her iPad for pictures. Also very entertaining for our teenagers. The tour of the Vatican is amazing and a must. We highly recommend the tour and Azzurra as a guide.

\ We booked the guided tour in Spanish to the Vatican (Museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica) with private tour and early access. Eyes of Rome contacted us a couple of days after the booking to suggest a small change in the order of the itinerary, and made sure that everything was set correctly and to our liking: a 10 for the management. On the day of the tour a private car picked us up punctually at the hotel and 15 minutes after we were comfortably entering the Vatican Museums, without waiting a minute in any queue, which was very important for us when traveling with an elderly person. The same can be said for the rest of the accesses, as well as the visit itself, which allowed us to do the different tours with hardly any crowds (despite it being a Saturday). We also have nothing but praise for the guide who accompanied us, Azzurra. Not only was it a pleasure to listen to her explanations throughout the tour, but it was clear that she was able to modulate the depth of the explanations and to emphasize or overlook one or another specific aspect depending on our level of interest: personally I find it difficult to "connect" with guided tours when I perceive that the person in charge just repeats a speech that has already been memorized, but this is a totally different kind of experience. Very friendly and with a very clear Spanish, we only regretted not asking her more questions during the visit (always very interesting answers). The three hours of the tour flew by, and we have no doubt that for a special visit, it is worth the money to maximize the experience and forget about queues, crowds and too large groups with heterogeneous interests that are difficult to reconcile for a single guide. Very happy.
We had our tour with azzurra della seta who us a guide ( french language). She was very interesting, very professional and very nice. We really enjoyed it.we highly recommand her!
St. Peter’s Basilica is staggeringly beautiful, and the opportunity to see areas of the museums off limits to most tourists was well worth the modest added cost. Overall, this private tour was beyond any expectation… and having a lovely and brilliant guide like Azzurra made all the difference. Strongly recommend!
We met Azzurra, our fabulous guide, in front of the Borghese Gallery about 15 minutes early for the appointment. Azzurra took us on a short walk through the grounds and provided excellent backgound on the museum and the family that owned the palace. Then we embarked on an incredibly informative tour of the museum with outstanding commentary by Azzurra. Both my husband and I are ardent museum lovers and although we knew something about this period of art, Azzurra's deep knowledge and understanding of the works displayed in the Borghese was amazing. We learned so much and realized how much her commentary provided both the depth and understanding of what we observed in this fabulous museum. We heartily recommend the Eyes of Rome and, in particular, Azzurra, if you want an unforgettable tour of the Borghese!
My wife and I just wrapped up a great morning with Azzurra. She was very knowledgeable, fun and patient with all our questions. Her knowledge of the Colosseum was so impressive. I would highly recommend!
My girlfriend and I completed a private tour with Azzurra of the Roman Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The tour was about 3 hours, a perfect amount of time to explore the sites. Azzurra was an amazing guide with an exceptionally well planned out tour. Her passion for Roman history was evident throughout the trip. She made the trip very interesting for people without prior knowledge of Roman history. 10/10 experience.
Highlight of our trip was our private tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum Tour. Our guide Azzurra was super knowledgeable and kept us entertained for the entire time. Azzzurra was great with the kids as well answering all their questions along the way. Would highly recommend this tour and Azzurra to anyone visiting Rome
We spent 3 Hours yesterday afternoon with Azzura being shown around the Colosseum & surrounding area. I can say that she has the passion & desire to share her knowledge with you in the most eloquent way which leaves you wanting more. I would recommend her too everyone who wants a better understanding of how the history has evolved over this stunning city.
The reason we rated the tour 5 stars was for Azzurra. Absolutely charming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and a joy to be with. My son is an avid Roman history buff so this tour hit all the important sites. The real surprise was the additional tour of San Clemente Church. Do not miss it. Again, Azzurra brought it all to life and made a remarkable impression on all of us.
We visited Rome in May, 2022. We had intended to do a 'set' tour, focused on sites from the book, Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown. We called the tour provider, Eyes of Rome, and learned the tour included 3.5 hours of walking. Too much for our group! We worked with Sara, at Eyes of Rome, and created a tour with driver + guide that included all reqiested sites of interest. Perfect! Our guide and driver, Azurre ('Blu') and Peter, were absolutely great! Azurre was both informative and entertaining, providing extensive historical facts and fun side stories. She was very attentive and responsive to the group and quickly established great rapport with us. Peter knew every shortcut to get us close to the sites and was always close at hand to pick us up again. A wonderful day!
We had the pleasure of visiting the Vatican on April 2, 2022, with Azzurra Della Seta (Blue) as our personal tour guide. We appreciated her setting the stage for the museums and Sistine chapel before we started the actual tour. She carried with her a tablet which was a photo resource that enriched her stories and her responses to our questions. She is personable, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and a great communicator. She tailored the tour to our interests. It was easy to remain engaged during the 4-hour tour.
Azzurra, our guide, is fabulous. She is a true professional and lover of history. Our small group of 6 was enthralled with the sights and her expertise in guiding us through each part of the tour made it more interesting. Since it was the Saturday before Easter we weren’t able to see the Basilica (the pope had reserved it), but she made up for it with her storytelling. Our tour included pick up and drop off at our hotel and that was definitely worth it! We highly recommend this tour, and Azzurra!
Consigliatissima! Bravi, continuate così.
We went on a walking tour with Azzurra and she was an amazing tour guide! She had awesome stories to go along with anything we passed, a ton of historical knowledge, and was so kind in giving us recommendations of food and activities to do as we passed them. I would highly recommend any tour with her.
I had a great private tour with Azzura Della Seta which included the Colosseum, Palatine Hill and Roman Forum. Azzura knows her history, but more important, communicates her knowledge in a very comfortable manner. Azzura is very patient and responsive in terms answering questions, plus flexible in terms of changing routes and accommodating the inevitable photography rush. In summary, an outstanding tour.
We felt quite lucky to have Azzurra Della Seta as our tour guide for a trip through time to the Coluseum and Roman Forum. She has a terrifically warm personality and is extremely conscientious, which we appreciated immensely. For example, part of our tour included a pickup and drop off at our hotel, in crowded Rome. Azzurra was at the hotel early and ready to scoop us - which helped a great deal as we were running late, but didn’t have to worry. She has great enthusiasm for the periods we wanted to tour, and is exceptional at educating those who also love the knowledge. Azzurra was a wonderful guide, and we had such a fun day with her!
First of all - touring the Colosseum and Roman Forum is a must! And booking a private tour through Eyes of Rome is definitely the way to go. We had a fantastic day with Azzurra Della Seta!! Azzurra picked us up at our hotel and off we went for an outstanding, educational tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Azzurra is full of personality, funny, a wealth of knowledge. We teased that she was like an encylopedia, and decided she was our own "Azzurrapedia"!! To experience this with someone who can provide the history behind it is truly the best way to tour these spectacular sites -- especially if that someone is Azzurra -- her passion for the history and her love of Rome was truly evident throughout the day. Definitely worth the money! Azzurra - You were awesome! We had one of the best days with you during out visit to Rome. Grazie!
We took the private Vatican tour and had the best experience! Our guide was Azzurra and she was kind and very knowledgeable. I cannot recommend this company enough as it has made our experience in Rome incredible. Our guide also recommended other restaurants and shops we loved.
Our first official tour in Rome and we couldn’t be more happy thanks to Azzurra. We arranged this trip through TripAdvisor before leaving home and received clear instructions via email. Azzurra picked us up on time with a cheerful attitude even though it was HOT. She was very thoughtful in keeping us in the shade and checking in with how our teenage son was doing as she knew he had suffered from heat exhaustion the day before. She speaks English very well and was able to give us a lot of historical information and happily answered our questions. The Colosseum is a must see. I was a little disappointed with all the refurbishing work they are currently doing as it takes away from the view, but that should not stop anyone from going. Loved hearing all the historical information Azzurra shared with us.
Our tour was fabulous! Azzurra was a sensational tour guide, made us feel completely comfortable, and was a fountain of knowledge about everything she showed us. We skipped all the lines, and got into areas that others were not allowed to enter. She made us feel special from the first moment she picked us up at the hotel. We didn't just SEE things - we EXPERIENCED them thank to her. My wife has bad knees, and she kept the pace to one that suited us. It was truly a great time, and we can't imagine we could have enjoyed it any more than we did. The history was awesome. We heartily recommend this tour, and this tour guide! You made our whole trip.
This was an incredible tour, and our tour guide, Azzurra, was wonderful. She was very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. Thanks to this tour, we did not have to wait at all, and we saw some spectacular sights while learning a lot about them. Highly recommend!
