Imagine your kids in a Roman kitchen, hands dusted with flour, faces lit up with concentration — and then pure joy when the pizza comes out of the oven golden and perfect. That's exactly what this private pizza and gelato-making class in Rome looks like from the inside.

This is more than a cooking class. It's one of those travel memories that sticks — the kind kids talk about for years. Set in a state-of-the-art kitchen in the heart of Rome, the experience is designed to be fully hands-on, deeply immersive, and tailored entirely to your family's pace and preferences.

The class begins with a warm Italian welcome: a glass of prosecco and a traditional aperitivo for the adults, while the whole group meets their private chef and settles into the kitchen. Then, it's straight into action.

Step by step, your chef teaches you how to knead and stretch authentic pizza dough, prepare crispy supplì — Rome's beloved fried rice balls — and bake a beautifully flavoured focaccia. Every technique is explained with care, making the experience accessible and genuinely fun for guests of any age.

When everything is ready, your group sits down together to enjoy the full meal you've prepared, paired with carefully selected wines for the adults.

The experience continues with a Nutella dessert, followed by a toast of limoncello — a proper Roman finale.

But the class doesn't end there. The sweetest part comes last: a dedicated gelato-making session, where kids and adults alike discover the secrets behind Italy's most iconic frozen dessert.

From seasonal ingredients to texture and temperature, every detail is explained — and every scoop is earned.

The result? Homemade gelato, tasted right there at the table, made entirely by your own hands.

All ingredients, professional equipment, and a digital recipe booklet are included, so the family can recreate everything at home.

Hotel pickup within Rome's city centre is also included — no logistics, just excitement.

Pizza Making Class in Rome

The experience kicks off in a beautifully equipped Roman kitchen, where your private chef welcomes the group with a glass of prosecco and a traditional aperitivo. Once everyone is settled in, the real fun begins. Kids and adults alike roll up their sleeves and get their hands into the dough — learning how to knead, stretch and shape authentic Roman pizza from scratch. Between the golden crunch of freshly fried supplì and the soft, herby fragrance of focaccia coming out of the oven, every minute in this kitchen feels like a discovery. The chef explains technique and tradition in equal measure, keeping the pace light-hearted and engaging — especially for the youngest members of the group.

We had an absolutely phenomenal experience with Eyes of Rome Private Tours, and especially with our guide, Azzurra. From start to finish, everything was seamless, personalized, and thoughtfully arranged. Azzurra was incredibly accommodating and attentive to our interests, adjusting the pace and focus of the tours so we could truly enjoy each site without ever feeling rushed.

Her knowledge was exceptional — she brought Rome’s history, art, and culture to life with clear, engaging explanations that added so much depth to what we were seeing. Beyond the facts, she shared stories and context that made every stop meaningful and memorable. She was also warm, patient, and genuinely passionate, which made the entire experience feel less like a tour and more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend.

The communication and organization from Eyes of Rome were equally impressive. Every detail was handled professionally, making the process stress-free and enjoyable. We left with a deeper appreciation for Rome and unforgettable memories. Punctual, professional and very knowledgeable! Was easy to book. Our driver Massimo was punctual, friendly and shared many aspects about Rome. Our private guide, Benjamin was excellent. Very friendly, relaxed and knowledgeable. He has a very strong understanding of the Vatican and was very capable to educate us in both English and German. We highly recommend him and the company

Eleonora was a wonderful guide! Not only was she deeply knowledgeable and able to answer all our questions, but she was also kind, engaging, and genuinely empathetic. Our three-hour private tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum flew by so quickly, as she brought the history to life and kept our whole family captivated from start to finish.

It was a great experience from start to end. The driver was waiting for us with a name sign and our guide Marta was both pleasant and a wealth of information. My husband wasn’t feeling real well and she was considerate to find places to rest in the shade to make him more comfortable. I would highly recommend.

It was nice to have a personalized tour for the 4 of us. Mirta was very knowledgeable and took her time explaining things. The only thing that would have made it better would have been to include more on St. Peter along with St. Paul, because apparently St. Peter is more thought of by the Italians than St. Paul is.

We utilized the Eyes of Rome Semi Private tours for both Vatican museums, Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica, as well as, the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Both were small groups (6 of us on each tour) and both of our guides (Rachelle for Vatican City and Marta for Colosseum) were fantastic! Knowledgeable, friendly and truly seemed to enjoy their job even with both areas being very busy and considering a very hot day in Rome. Would highly recommend both tours, definitely worth it for semi-private compared to other large tour groups we saw.

We absolutely LOVED this experience. I cannot believe the amount of knowledge that Maria Linda had. We not only learned so much, but we had this personalized experience that felt so geared to us. I have never experienced anything like this and can't wait to do it again. Worth every penny! Also, the experience was made by Maria Linda. The event itself was captivating, but her expertise and kindness, along with her knowledge and personality, was what really made the experience.

Our guide, Gianluca, was amazing. We toured the Forum and Colosseum with him. He was engaging, interesting, thoughtful about breaks, and so knowledgeable about the world, politics, history etc. I highly recommend spending the money on a private tour, especially for a site you are particularly interested in. And Eyes of Rome will not disappoint.

Our experience with Azzurra was amazing! She had so much knowledge about the Vatican and went into a lot of depth about the history of the art and buildings of Rome and the Vatican. Even waiting before the Vatican opened she kept us engaged by using photos to help explain things and prepare us for the things we were about to see. Azzurra gave us a real sense of how the Vatican came to be in its current location and pointed out different places of Rome that were impacted by the Vatican.

We did two tours with Eyes of Rome and both were absolutely fabulous. We traveled with our two boys, ages 10 and 7, and were blown away by how engaging, fun, and educational each experience was. The Kid-Friendly Scavenger Hunt with Elisa was a perfect blend of learning and adventure. Elisa was so sweet and full of energy. She kept our boys completely engaged and excited the entire time. They were learning without even realizing it, and had a blast solving clues and exploring the city. Our Colosseum tour with Eleonora was just as incredible. She brought history to life in such a vivid and captivating way. Her warmth and enthusiasm made the experience feel personal and meaningful, and again, our boys were hooked from the start. If you're traveling to Rome with kids and want to give them a truly unique and fun way to learn about history and culture, this is the way to do it. These tours were the highlight of our time in Rome and we’ll be recommending them to everyone we know.

We had the absolute pleasure of touring the Colosseum and Roman Forum with Simone, and it was an unforgettable experience. His deep archaeological knowledge and passion for history brought the ancient ruins to life in a way we could never have imagined on our own. Simone didn’t just share facts—he gave us insights into how Romans truly lived, worked, and entertained themselves, weaving together stories that made the stones and ruins feel vibrant and alive. What made the tour so exceptional was Simone’s ability to balance his profound expertise with an engaging, approachable style. He welcomed questions, tailored the pace to our interests, and ensured we didn’t just “see” the sites but actually understood their significance. His background in archaeology shone through at every stop, adding a depth and authenticity that set this experience apart from any typical tour. If you want to experience the Colosseum and Forum with fresh eyes and walk away with a genuine appreciation for their history, I cannot recommend Simone highly enough. Truly phenomenal.

Our eyes of Rome tour was phenomenal from start to finish! Marco our guide was a modern day Indiana Jones and truly brought history to life for us at the forum & colosseum. He was by far the most knowledgable guide we’ve ever had (which makes sense considering his phd in archeology)- but more than that, he had the rare gift of imparting that knowledge with wit, subtlety and infectious joy. Will be recommending this to any of our friends going to Rome- a true highlight of our trip!

My wife and I booked this tour for part of our 25th Anniversary across Europe. I would recommend it to anyone! Azurra was AMAZING! She is extremely knowledgable and lets you explore at your own pace. Hands down, the best tour guide I’ve ever had. We skipped lines everywhere at Vatican City as well as the Forum and Coliseum giving us more time at each place. We transferred from hotel to tour sites and between sites in air conditioned BMW and Tesla Plaid. We got much more than we ever expected. This tour is worth every penny.

An Unforgettable Day in Rome with Eyes of Rome & Azzura! Our one-day tour of the Vatican, Colosseum, and Roman Forum with Eyes of Rome was nothing short of exceptional. From the moment we were picked up at our hotel to the final drop-off, everything was flawlessly organized and stress-free. What truly made the experience unforgettable was our guide, Azzura. She was not only incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history of this eternal city, but also one of the kindest and most genuine people we’ve ever met. Her warmth and hospitality made my wife, our four children, and I feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout the day. Azzura’s storytelling brought the ancient ruins to life in a way that captivated both the adults and the kids. Her ability to engage and connect with our family made the day both educational and deeply meaningful. If you want to experience Rome the right way—learning its rich history while feeling like you’re touring with a close friend—I strongly recommend booking with Eyes of Rome and requesting Azzura. This was a once-in-a-lifetime experience we’ll never forget. Grazie mille, Azzura!

Our family had an excellent experience seeing the Last Supper in Milan, Italy. We had made last minute plans to visit the city and all of the tickets to the museum were already sold out. I was so fortunate to find this company through Viator and booked a private early morning tour which did not disappoint! Booking was easy, it was straightforward to find the museum and our guide and they did not charge us until a few days before the experience. Mauro was our guide and was truly wonderful. He made this already awesome experience so much better with his knowledge and historical information. I highly recommend this experience and this company.

Our tour of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum with Simone was truly a top highlight from our Italian Vacation. Not only is Simone a kind and humorous person, he is also an archaeologist, which provided us with an especially unique and special experience as we explored these historic sites. I particularly loved that Eyes of Rome offers pickup from your hotel (within a certain range) to your tour, and that the tour is TRULY private. It was only the four of us in our family plus Simone, and I cannot express how nice it was not to be in just another 'cattle call' like most tours are. If we ever make it back to Rome, we would only tour with Eyes of Rome (and Simone!).

He customized the tour and adjusted time spent on various sections so we could enjoy and take in what we liked most. There wasn’t a question he didn’t know the answer to! The driver picked us up right on time and Denis was there waiting. I wouldn’t see The Vatican any other way!

Rome is overflowing with incredible history and world-famous landmarks, but one experience that truly stood out was touring its breathtaking churches with Eyes of Rome. These aren’t just places of worship—they're masterpieces of art, architecture, and deep spiritual significance. If you're Catholic, this tour is an absolute must-do. Rome is truly the spiritual capital of Western Christianity, and visiting these sacred sites brings the richness of our faith to life. The beauty, inspiration, and historical depth of each church were simply indescribable. Our guide, Simone, was absolutely wonderful—knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate. He brought each stop to life with fascinating insights and stories. The air-conditioned van was a huge bonus, especially in the Roman heat, making the experience both comfortable and enjoyable. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough—it was a highlight of our time in Rome!

Our family of four (with two sons, ages 20 and 22) had the absolute pleasure of spending an unforgettable day in Rome with Katie as our private tour guide — and we can’t recommend her and Eyes of Rome highly enough. Katie led us through the Vatican Museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter’s Basilica, the Roman Forum, and the Colosseum with such incredible knowledge, energy, and warmth. From the very beginning, it was clear we were in the best hands. Her deep understanding of history and art was remarkable, but what truly set her apart was the way she brought everything to life — every story felt like a natural conversation, not a lecture. Even our sons, who can be hard to impress, were totally engaged and fascinated from start to finish. Katie also thoughtfully arranged a stop at a delicious local restaurant for lunch, which gave us a perfect break and a taste of authentic Roman cuisine. The hardest part of the entire experience? Saying goodbye at the end of the day. She made Rome come alive in a way we never expected, and it felt like leaving a friend behind. This was hands-down the best private tour we’ve ever taken — worth every penny. If you’re looking for a guide who is knowledgeable, personable, and passionate, Katie is the one. Highest praise and heartfelt thanks for an unforgettable experience!

We did several private tours with this company for our family trip. This included three generations and people ranging from 9 to 72. All of the tours were fantastic!! We also got transfers, which were so helpful. The driver was extremely nice and patient (even as some of our group struggled with arriving on time)! We had different guides for the Pantheon, the Colosseum and Roman forum, and early morning Vatican City tours. All of them were fantastic! They were all extremely patient and knowledgeable with information that engaged everyone within the group (which is not always the easiest thing to do). They matched their pace to the group, were very patient answering questions and also taking photos of the group. We would recommend each of these tours individually, but given our experience, it does seem that the company works hard to provide the best experience for all their customers. I would imagine that any tour they do would be the same!

We took the “Private Borghese Gallery Tour with Hotel Pick-up and Drop-off” from Eyes of Rome on December 26. We were picked up on-time at our hotel by the tour’s driver and dropped off at the Villa Borghese and met immediately by our personal guide, Silvia, who greeted us warmly and immediately started setting the context of what we were about to see with the history of the Aurelian wall, Roman life in the 1600s, and the concept of the “villa suburbana,” all of which is quite necessary for a full appreciation of the wonder that is the Galleria Borghese. She explained to us the relation of the Galleria’s founder Cardinal Scipione Borghese and his position as the Cardinal Nephew to Pope Paul V, which gave him political power over the Papal States. Silvia told us of the original plan of the gardens and the vivarium, which housed species from all over the world- plants and birds respectively, which was foundational to understanding the art collection to come. For context, I have twice visited the Galleria Borghese in 1996 and 2010, but it was my husband’s first visit to the Galleria and, in fact, to Rome. Our tour impressed, entertained, and satiated the curiosity of both of us equally– not an easy feat, for sure. We appreciated that Silvia structured the tour as much as possible as the Galleria was meant to be experienced (unwinding, if philosophically, the changes to the sequence of rooms necessitated by current COVID protocols). Silvia was knowledgeable, personable, funny, and very well-versed in the history of the Borghese family, the Papacy as related to it, and the artists (Bernini, Carvaggio, etc.) and their works featured in the museum. Among the highlights for us: *A very informative but also witty and humorous study comparing the depiction (and by extrapolation the characterization) of Venus painted with Cupid by two artists– Cranachi (il vecchio) and Brescianino, an eye-opening discussion about the differing regional attitudes toward women at the time *Revealing the technique but also the humanity of Caravaggio with a thorough education on the ‘Madonna dei Palafrenieri.’ Some of why the painting would have been a shocking portrayal of Mary, Jesus, and St. Anne may be obvious, but understanding all the details– Mary’s plainly visible underskirt– contemporary of the artist’s time, the wrinkled, withered portrayal of St. Anne (the Vatican chapel bearing her name being the intended destination for this work, where it was ultimately rejected), and the still-astounding use of light in darkness was extremely interesting and enriching to our experience *A 360-degree analysis of Bernini’s Baroque masterpiece Apollo and Daphne (starting with Silvia ensuring we averted our eyes to view the sculpture first from the right-hand side, as intended by the artist himself prior to the statue being moved) gave us a complete understanding of this work. Viewing the sculpture– which I had seen before but never from the vantage point encouraged by our guide– this way gives the complete story of Daphne’s encapsulation into the tree depicted here and Apollo’s (non-)reaction. When the delicately carved, paper-thin tree bark was pointed out to us, you could almost feel the heartbeat that Apollo would have felt as his hand grasped it. I appreciated the details of the windswept hair turning into leaves, which also stemmed from her hands, and the roots emanating from her foot, details I had not really fully appreciated before. I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome and specifically our guide Silvia. I cannot enumerate with words how much more I appreciated the Galleria Borghese with her expert and naturally flowing guidance and historical context. We had a fantastic time that we will not soon forget.

Marta was so amazing! We did two tours (Colosseum and Vatican) with her and she transported us to another world. Her knowledge and expertise were top notch. It was quite evident that she was an art history major as she gave details well beyond that of a normal guide. Marta was also excellent with my 9 year old son engaging him and really getting him into the history. He is still talking about her days later! Would highly recommend and so glad we opted to choose here based off similar reviews.

Amazing Tours with Eyes of Rome (second time) We visited Rome a couple of years ago - and l happed to select Eyes of Rome for some tours. I wrote a review back then - we were *super* happy with our experience. 2 years later - we were heading back - 3 of us who had been on the first trip, and one additional person. I reached out to the team at Eyes of Rome - and they immediately thanked me for coming back to them - and were able to pull up all of the details from our first visit with them. Given what we had seen before - and the fact we had one new traveler - they crafted an amazing itinerary so that our new traveler got to see everything, and for the 3 original travelers there was a new approach to some of the visits that made the second time just as much fun. During our first trip we met Marta - who was amazing. You can just tell how much she loves her country and culture - and she is so amazingly smart, and always made sure we had a great understanding an appreciation for everything we got to see. Since we knew it was going to be very warm - we broke our tours up into mornings and later in the day - giving everyone some time to rest and freshen up between the tours. On the first morning - Daniel picked us up and we met Marta near where our tour was to begin. We visited the Hypogeum (Colosseum's Underground), which we hadn't seen on our first visit to the Colosseum. We also visited the Imperial Roman Forum. Marta picked out an amazing traditional place for lunch - and we even managed to convince her to eat with us :) Daniel picked us back up in the late afternoon, and dropped us off with Azzurra for our evening food and wine tour. We walked through the charming areas of Campo de' Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. Near the famous piazza of Campo de' Fiori we visited an artisan deli where we enjoyed some Roman wine paired with typical Italian delicacies from a family who has specialized in cured meats since 1890. In the Jewish Ghetto - we were able to sample the famous fried artichoke which was paired with a really wonderful bottle of Prosecco. We also stopped at a great Gelato shop before our tour was over - which was the best way to end this amazing tour! The next day - we did a nice walking tour with Marta - that included the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain. Marta really made the Roman culture and history come alive! During our first trip, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel were very crowded - so the team suggested we do a late afternoon / evening visit. It was a great suggestion, and although it was still busy, it was much less crowded than our first visit. We were with Marta again - who explained so much about everything we saw. We were happy to be back. We worked with Eyes of Rome to get a ride from Rome to the cruise terminal. Luca met us promptly and we had a smooth, trouble free ride and made it to our ship without problem. Our cruise shipped docked in Pisa - but didn't have any tours that we were interested in. Luckily I found out that Eyes of Rome covers Pisa and Florence too! Tomasso met us at the cruise terminal - and was our driver for the day. He was great! Our first tour was Pisa. We met Anne Marie right near the tower. Anne Marie did an amazing job of telling us all about Pisa, the tower, and the history of both. Tomasso then drove us to Florence where we met Giada. She knew Florence like the back of her hand and was *so* excited to show us around. It was a quick visit, but we were able to visit of Accademia Gallery with Michelangelo's David which was truly amazing. We walked around Florence with Giada who explained so much about the history and the culture. She also helped us visit a typical Florentine shop for the best sandwich any of us have ever eaten in our lives! Tomasso then drove us back to our ship and made sure we arrived in plenty of time. We *loved* our second tour with Eyes of Rome - and will definitely check back with them when we return to Italy

My wife and I did the Vatican Museum early morning tour with Marta in the high season at the end of June. She spoke fantastic English and was very accommodating and made us feel comfortable. She took her time with us and had answers for any questions we had. She was very knowledgeable and made us feel like we were talking to a friend. I highly recommend Marta for her experience and personality!

Picked up at our hotel ON TIME even though we are staying in a heavy foot traffic area. Driver was personable and knowledgeable. He linked us with our guide Alessandro who is a wealth of knowledge about the Vatican, art, and archeology. I visited the Vatican with a guide before but Alessandro was far more knowledgeable and fun. He truly cares about sharing history with others.

We recently used this touring outfit to tour Rome, including the Vatican, Colosseum, Spanish Steps, and Trevi Fountain. They had a 2 man team, one who drove and the other who gave the tour. This made everything very nice as the driver could drop us off and pick us up right in the front of these very crowded areas, and the tour guide was with us every step of the way. He was very knowledgeable and professional the whole day. The entire tour was well organized and I would defiantly recommend this touring outfit to anyone looking to squeeze a lot of touring into a short amount of time.

My experience with the tour we just did of Vatican City and The Colosseum was amazing. Eyes of Rome is a top-level tour outfit of high value. We only had 10 hours in Rome, so we wanted to pack in the best sightseeing, given a small amount of time. Our driver, Francesco, was the best A#1. He was always early, ready and waiting for us at each phase of our tour to move us quickly to the next place. Our guide, Alessandro was highly knowledgeable. As an Archeologist, he was excellent sharing his love of the anchient city and all its wonders!!! I'd Highly Recommend this tour service to anyone!

Supremely excellent. Highly knowledgeable. I've used them for three different guided tours in Rome. Beyond all of the fascinating details within the tours, our guides definitely tailored the visits to the interests of the group and offered suggestions to expand our enjoyment of Rome. All times I used them it was either semi-private or private tours and I feel they were well worth the money. Michela and Pamela were our guides (not both at the same time).

Eyes of Rome, golf cart tour was amazing! It was a perfect thing to go everywhere and see everything in Rome. Our guide Marco was absolutely amazing with a wealth of knowledge, a great personality and sense of humor. He showed us hidden gems as well as all of the spots that you want to see In-depth. He told us great stories of the city, and all the sites as well. Gave us great tips for the rest of our stay in room also. Our driver, Eduardo was also extremely nice and very knowledgeable as well. They drove us all over the entire city, all the way up to the mountain of Gianicolo hill. It was an amazing view up there. This is absolutely the best way to see Rome! Definitely ask for Marco as your guide, as an archaeologist, he knew so much about all of the details of the city, and like I said, especially the hidden gems! What a wonderful experience. Thank you so much for an incredibly memorable time in Rome!

We got a private tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum today from guide Gianluca Pica. It was an amazing experience and I could not recommend it more. He is interesting, good at English, is able to answer all your questions and is funny as well. We got picked up at our hotel by a van on time and got dropped off to a location of our choice. The overall experience was 10/10 !! What a day I was not bored for 1 second of the 2.5 hour long tour !

We booked a day long excursion through Eyes of Rome whom we were very pleased with. We had a chauffeur Francisco who picked us from the port in a beautiful BMW. He drove very carefully as my wife is a nervous passenger. We arrived in the centre of Rome where we met our guide Rosalba. She took us firstly to the Vatican and Sistine chapel. I am not very good on my feet so she suggested we took a wheelchair and she pushed me around. It was a good plan as there was a lot of walking and steps. There was a lot to see and we only saw a fraction. The Sistine chapel was magnificent and also the sculptures, paintings and tapestries. Rosalba’s knowledge was incredible and there was nothing she did not know. We then visited St Peter’s sqare, but it was too busy to go into the Basilica. Once again Rosalba talked about the Pope and how new Pope’s were elected. A fascinating morning. We also visited by limousine the Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Colosseum and the Pantheon. We would never have been able to do in a small group and have the personal attention we had and learned so much without Rosalba and Francisco. Eyes of Rome listened to what we wanted in our short stay in Rome and provided the most memorable day for us. We can only say a big thank you to everyone who made our holiday very special, We have no hesitation in booking again with Eyes of Rome. Ken & Elaine

Recently traveled with family to Rome and arranged for some tours through Eyes of Rome. Can't say enough good things about them. I've taken tours of the Vatican and Colosseum/Forum previously but this was a whole new level of experience. I booked the Vatican Museums Early Morning Prime Tour: VIP Entrance and the Crypt of the Popes and Dennis was our guide. If you have the chance to book this tour ask for Dennis, he was fantastic and it is worth doing the early morning VIP tour. Even if you get a private tour and skip the lines tour it's not the same. The early morning VIP tour is much more peaceful and enjoyable experience, especially with the right tour guide. Another day we booked the Colosseum, Underground & Roman Forum Tour with Elisa as our guide. She was so enthusiastic and knowledgable she truly made the experience a special one. Definitely try to get the underground portion of the tour. It's well worth being down there and seeing engineering and thought that went into the building of the Colosseum. Thanks again to Eyes of Rome for two very special experiences.

This was our second tour with eyes of Rome. Our first tour last October at the coliseum was a hit and we knew that booking with them a private visit of the Vatican museum, sixtine chapel and St-Peter's basilica was a good idea. We were not disappointed. Alessandro was very knowledgeable, very patient with my son's never ending questions and knew exactly when it was time to expedite the visit after my son reached his limits. This was a real VIP skip the line visit. We were inside the museum in 2 min, got the tickets in 2 min and did not wait at all to get into the Sixtine Chapel. I will keep using Eyes of Rome for my tours in Italy.

Eyes of Rome is a first class touring agency with top quality storyteller\guides and transportation services. Each of our guides had degrees in art history, were extremely personable and knew the shortcuts to make the private tours extremely swift, comfortable and enjoyable. Eyes of Rome was a pleasure to work with over the Internet, was very responsive, and credited fees paid prior to the pandemic to tours 3 years later. They delivered what they promised for our 3 tours.

Our private tour with Denis was undisputedly the best of the five other tours we took while in Rome. We requested three hours to see the Baths of Caracalla, the Palantine Hill and the Forum. We started early in the morning at the Baths and were virtually the only ones there for the first hour. It was magical! This place is not to be missed. Denis speaks excellent English, and is extremely knowlegable about art history and archeology. He is also very personable with an excellent sense of humor. He balanced just the right amount of historical information with memorable anecdotes, continually pointing out things we would have missed if on our own. He answered all our questions willingly with expertise. And when he discovered I was interested in horticulture, he made a point to show me unusual local plants! In short, we felt not only well cared for throughout the tour - he patiently adjusted his walking pace to ours - but also privileged to see Rome through his eyes. We learned so much and cannot recommend him highly enough. We hope to book him again in the future. We would also like to commend the excellent responses provided by Sara at Eyes of Rome to all our communications prior to our trip, as well as the drivers who picked us up at the hotel for every tour (we did three with Eyes of Rome). These tours are not inexpensive, but we feel they were worth every cent. The guides are real pros and the entire experience is streamlined to make it very easy, especially for older clients like us who do not speak Italian. Highly, highly recommend.

We booked two tours with Eyes of Rome - The Colosseum and Roman Forum in the morning and the Vatican museum and St. Peter's Basilica in the afternoon. Both ran for three hours and were excellent. Our guide was Denis Pasolini and he was great - very warm, good sense of humour, and excellent English. It was obvious that his knowledge of the sights and the history was much deeper than what was on script because he welcomed questions and could go deep into them if we had interest in a particular area. It was just two of us, myself and a friend. It was my friend's first time in Rome. I have been to Rome and done a guided tour of the Colosseum and forum before but I still learned many new things (and even had some old knowledge corrected!) I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome if you are looking to skip lineups and get have an intimate, relaxing tour.

Eleonora is amazing!!! During my time in Rome, I had a full-day tour with Eleonora, which was the highlight of my vacation in Italy. As a first-time solo traveler, I was nervous about having a tour alone, but Eleonora eased that concern immediately. We had a wonderful time exploring the Vatican Museums and Colosseum. Eleonora is highly knowledgeable about the symbolism of the various artworks in the Vatican Museums and their significance in history. Her knowledge of the Roman Forum and Colosseum was a dream for a former History major. I learned so much and had the most incredible time on my tour. We just finished a full day of touring Rome, and we can't stop smiling all thanks to Alessandro. We never dreamed we'd be touring the eternal city with a real-life archaeologist who had first-hand experience excavating the ancient ruins. Nothing cooler than that! Not only was he extremely knowledgeable in all things Roman history, but he was absolutely hilarious and such a pleasure to spend the day with. We had limited time in Rome, so we chose to do 2 yours in one day. We did the 'Vatican Museums Early Morning Prime Tour: VIP Entrance' + the 'Colosseum & Roman Forum Tour' in the afternoon. Initially, we were worried we might get tired/bored after doing 2 full tours in one day. Quite the opposite! Alessandro was the most entertaining, hilarious, charming, charismatic AND knowledgeable tour guide we could've ever dreamed of having. He had us laughing from early morning till the end of the day, all the while giving us a PhD level education in Roman history. He really has a passion for Roman history and it shows! His heart is as big as his smile. If you don't book a tour with Alessandro, you'd be missing out on the best day with one of the jewels of Rome. He has left us with memories of a wonderful day that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. It was truly a privilege to spend the day in Rome with him, and we feel so fortunate to have gained a friend in Alessandro. Thank you Alessandro & Eyes of Rome!!

Our group of 13 (ranging in age from 11-69) had two amazing days of touring with Eyes of Rome. Sara did an excellent job of coordinating and creating our custom itinerary. Originally, I booked our two days of touring for our group of 8 several months ago. However, two weeks prior to the trip, we added my sister-in-law and her family (5 total people) to the trip. Rome is currently busier now than it was precovid, yet Sara was able to expand all of our tours from 8 to 13 participants. We were able to see the major sites of Rome, including a golf cart site seeing / food tour, the Vatican Museum, the Forums, and the Colosseum. Eyes of Tome also coordinated are transfers from the airport and the the cruise port. Our guide, Marta, was excellent, clearly loves Rome, and is truly gifted at her craft. Marta was extremely knowledgeable about Rome and it's vast history, very accommodating of our group of 13, with a wide range of ages with three generations of family, and extremely friendly. Our group came away from our two days of touring with a great sense of Rome's history and made memories to last a lifetime, all thanks to the expert guiding of Marta. I can't recommend Marta, Sara, and Eyes of Rome enough for custom private touring in Rome.

We had a wonderful day with Denis at the Vatican. He was so knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, providing just the right amount of information to hold the attention of my young adult children. He took lots of family photos for us. He was patient through a bloody nose delay and generously started the wait in line for the security to get into St. Peter's after the Museum so that we could get a drink. He gave us a non-touristy restaurant recommendation several blocks from Vatican City after we completed the tour.

We visited Rome in May, 2022. We had intended to do a 'set' tour, focused on sites from the book, Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown. We called the tour provider, Eyes of Rome, and learned the tour included 3.5 hours of walking. Too much for our group! We worked with Sara, at Eyes of Rome, and created a tour with driver + guide that included all reqiested sites of interest. Perfect! Our guide and driver, Azurre ('Blu') and Peter, were absolutely great! Azurre was both informative and entertaining, providing extensive historical facts and fun side stories. She was very attentive and responsive to the group and quickly established great rapport with us. Peter knew every shortcut to get us close to the sites and was always close at hand to pick us up again. A wonderful day!

We had the most amazing tour visiting some of Rome’s famous places with our tour guide Alessandro. We started off our tour at the famous Colosseum and although we have visited the Colosseum many times before we have never fully appreciated the rich history of the Colosseum until our tour with Alessandro. Alessandro wealth of knowledge was amazing, because not only did he know so many interesting things about the Colosseum he brought along with him his personal experience as an archaeologist. Which was so fascinating, both our children aged 16 and 10 were utterly engaged with the information and wide knowledge shared by Alessandro like the fact it took just 5 years to build the Colosseum something we never knew and had always believed that it must have taken so much longer. Alessandro was enthusiastic and we felt his enthusiasm as he shared more knowledge with us and it made the difference because he was not just a tour guide paid to give us a private tour he actually loves what he does and it made the difference, he made sure my 10 year son was involved in our tour by making him feel what it must have been like to a Rome emperor he gave our son the name Emperor Rocco which our son fully embraced. After our tour of the Colosseum Alessandro took us off the beaten track and showed us some of Rome’s hidden gems which we really enjoyed like sioi societa’ italiana , Sant’ Eustachio and Monti to name a few ( the ones I can remember). In addition he took us to one of the first public notices in Rome which was a public notice for owners of guest houses informing the owners that they needed to inform the authorities of any guests that were ill to stop the spread of any disease, he also showed us another plaque a public notice letting citizens know that they would be a fine for anyone caught littering. It was so interesting, as well as taking us down the amazing side streets of Rome, Alessandro tested us on our Roman Numerals which was so much fun I’m happy to report my children passed with flying colours - true Romans! At the end of our tour Alessandro took us to another hidden gem for lunch and I have to say it was probably the best lunch we have had, as Alessandro said to us to enjoy food in Rome you have to go where the locals go and not where the tourists go! We had the most amazing time with Alessandro and honestly we didn’t want the tour to end, I would highly recommend using this tour company and if possible make sure you book Alessandro you will not be disappointed. Grazie Milie Alessandro Buon Anno!

We are so glad that we selected Eyes of Rome for our tour. Our tour guide, Alessia, was amazing and set the stage for a great trip. She was so knowledgeable and able to help us visualize how grand the Colosseum and Palatine Hill (personal favorite) were in their hay day. We added a three hour city tour to see Trevi fountain and the Pantheon - along the way she pointed out many sites that we wouldn't have never noticed, like the balcony from which Mussolini gave his speeches, the "wedding cake" building and countless other spots. We can't recommend them, and her, enough - thanks for a day we will never forget in Rome!

Outstanding tour for two of us with storyteller, Alessia Rinaldi. Our travel agent booked the Eye's Of Rome Early Bird Tour of the Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica and Square on our behalf through Viator. I would highly recommend this tour and tour guide. She is smart, well-spoken, patient, able to answer any and all of our questions, open-minded and honest about the church and its history (the good, the bad, and the ugly). Although it was a splurge, it was indeed money well spent to bypass lines of people - both with and without their tickets - and to have a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

If you are going to Rome, I definitely recommend you to book a tour from "Eyes of Rome". We booked the "Private Early Bird Vatican and St Peter's Basilica Tour". We are a family of seven, in ages from 14 to 80 years. Communication before booking was very comfortable. Beatrice patiently answered all our questions. Tosca is the same too. Our guide Stefania was really friendly, knowledgeable and zealous. Also, she helped us at the end of the tour. At the end of the tour we saw the crowd, so definitely worth the money of the "Early Morning Vatican Tour". The private transfer we requested was timely and comfortable. There was an unpleasant event in the museum. "Eyes of Roma" had no fault. However, the phone was called and apologized to us. Very kind behaviour. Thank you for everything.

We had a fabulous private tour with Alessandro who is a super knowledgeable and engaging Archaeologist. We had hundreds of questions and he answered all of them with great detail and precision, it was a true delight to have such a qualified expert take us on an insiders tour of Rome. We visited hidden sights where no tourists were to be seen and learned so much about history, architecture, and of course archeology, not to mention the best cafes and local culture. Also, Alessandro is a great photographer and genuinely enjoys taking photos! Everything was perfect.

We had 2 trips with him the coliseum, forum one day then the Vatican museums Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s another day. He is proud of his city and culture very important as a private tour guide Thank you Alessandro

We contacted Eyes of Rome requesting a tour for our extended family of 10 on very short notice. Eyes of Rome was very responsive and Claudia and Adam suggested several options that would meet our needs. Given the number of people in our group and one person with mobility limitations, we opted for two different private tours with pickup/dropoff at our accommodations. The first one was at the Colosseum, followed a few days later by a second tour of the Vatican Museums, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. On the first day, our tour guide, Francesco Grasso, arrived right on time with the drivers and took us over to the Colosseum. We spent several hours exploring the Colosseum, and Francesco was able to tell us many stories of the history of the Colosseum and what life was like during ancient times. As it was extremely hot, we stopped many times to rest while Francesco filled us in on different information regarding the Colosseum, and helped refill our water bottles as well from the natural springs on site. The length of the tour was just right for us on a hot summer day, and we enjoyed learning all about the amazing Colosseum. After the tour, Francesco also sent us recommendations for other sights and restaurants to check out in Rome. Thank you, Francesco! A few days later, we did our second tour. The Private Early Bird Vatican and St. Peter's Basilica Tour was the perfect way for our family, including grandparents and teenagers, to see the Vatican museums, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Sistine Chapel. Our guide, Marco Mancini, picked us up from our hotel and we got to bypass all the other people waiting in a long line to get into the Vatican. Marco led us through the Vatican museums, explaining each sight as we went, and sharing many interesting tidbits related to the history and geography. Marco made sure to keep the pace slow enough so everyone could keep up, was patient in explaining all the details of the various pieces to us, and answered all of our questions so knowledgeably. The walk through St. Peter's Basilica was amazing, and Marco prepped us on what to look for in the Sistine Chapel prior to our entering, since tour guides are not allowed to lead tours in the Sistine Chapel. One person in our party needed to use a wheelchair, and Marco was very thoughtful and helpful with the wheelchair. Overall it was an excellent way to see the sights with such a nice and knowledgeable tour guide. Thank you so much, Marco!

Laura is knowledgeable on all things Rome, but particularly the Coliseum and all of the ancient ruins around the area. She is a Professor of History and an archaeologist. We didn't have much time in Rome and wanted to modify our tour to fit the time we had - she did so with ease and such enthusiasm. Knowing your facts is one thing, but she LOVES her city and teaching it to others. IF there was 6 stars she would have earned them! Totally worth the $$

Our Eyes of Rome Tour with Laura Rizzi was an absolute joy. She is one of the best tour guides we have ever had. Her knowledge of the Vatican, St. Peter’s Basillica and St. Peter’s Square is impressive. She was also very familiar with all of the many works of art throughout the tour. She’s little encyclopedia. Her story telling abilities made the entire place come to life. She was thoughtful and considerate throughout the tour. She made the experience a day to remember. We had two tours with Gianluca and Rosie while we were in Rome. It was WELL worth the money for a private tour. We did a walking tours each day. One the first day, we did the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain and move sights throughout our 4 hour walk. Gianluca even showed us great restaurants, coffee and gelato shops along the way. he was incredibly informative and knew so much of the history. He knew exactly where to go to skip the crowds too. We had a Vatican, Roman Forum and Colosseum tour with Rosie the next day. She was awesome as well. Super informative and we skipped every line - which was SO worth the money in the Vatican. Rosie took us to a great restaurant for lunch and we absolutely loved spending the day with her. Highly recommend spending the money for Eyes of Rome and private tours. Simone picked up us on time at our hotel and in the cab briefed us as to what and how we would seeing the Vatican and surrounding sights. Entry went quickly and smoothly and we were off on our tour eager to see and live in the life and times of the Vatican et al. Simone had a way of being able to relay facts in a storytelling way. We were glued to his every word. He was able to thread through certain facts that would pop up in a different sight and also teach us why and how. He is very calming and able to navigate the crowds easily and professionally. Having his iPad to back up facts with photos and able to look back and compare was an added bonus to the tour. We wish we could have taken him on the rest of our tours while in Rome. He deserves 10 stars - not just 5

I definitely recommend her for other families that want to get a closer look at the Vatican. Gianluca was guide for the private walking tour of the Forum and the Colosseum. Spend a Wonderful Day with Rosalba! My family and I enjoyed an incredible day with Rosie on our recent trip to Rome. Since we only had two days, we wanted to see as much as we possibly could, so we went on a private, made to order tour through Eyes of Rome. Our guide, Rosie, made that possible while finding chances to stop, relax, and even shop. Being an expert in Art History and Archeology, she was extremely prepared as she began the day with a walking trip through the Forum and Paletine Hill which overlooked it. As a wonderful storyteller, she gave a vibrant overview of the history and mythology which gave rise to the Rome of today and provided illustrations to show the past and the present. Our next stop was a “Skip the Line” private tour of the Coliseum. She knew exactly how to find the best views from different areas of the ruins and explained little known facts to make it come alive. Following the tour, Rosie walked us to one of her favorite cafes where we enjoyed a local menu as well as her company! Not only did she plan a fabulous afternoon tour, she also assisted us in contacting the airline attempting to get boarding passes for the following day’s flight home, even allowing us to use her phone to try to make contact! After lunch, she called for a golf cart which took us on a private tour of the highlights of the City. The driver was very skilled and made our trip though the busy streets lots of fun. Because we were driving, we saw more than we could have ever seen through a walking tour. Some of the highlights were the Circus Maximus, Spanish Steps, Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, Piazza del Popolo, and the Borghese Gardens. We ended the day with a tour inside the Pantheon and Rosie’s recommendation for a great restaurant nearby. Because of Rosalba’s expertise, kindness, and enthusiastic personality, our trip to Rome will always be a favorite family adventure, one which we will always remember!

Maria Serena Lanfranca was our guide at the Vatican - and she was amazing! She is a school teacher and art historian and was able to explain the history and importance of the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel simply and eloquently so that it appealed and had relevance to our children (12 and 16) and us adults. I particularly liked how she spoke to us in the beauty of the Vatican gardens and explained much of the importance of the chapel and the rooms before we even entered the main hall - because once you do, you get swept up by the masses. With her approach, we knew exactly what to expect and look for. There was context and we were able to take more in. This was our second visit to the Vatican and Serena was far better than our previous guide.

My husband and I were in Rome with our 2 children (6 and 10), and didn't want to get stuck in a large tour group that would lose our childrens' interest. Our hotel recommended to go with Eyes of Rome. Laura was our guide.Laura is an excellent archaeologist, and extremely knowledgeable and very well prepared. She was able to get us through faster despite long lines. Not only did she have her iPad to show visuals and provide historic references to particular sites, but she was also able to answer practically all of the questions we had. In addition to having so much knowledge she was a delight to spend time with. She was friendly, energetic, and passionate about her job as she stayed out longer than the schedule originally planned. She wanted to ensure that this was the best experience possible and it showed in how she engaged with us especially with our young kids. Her knowledge of history as well as architecture is truly inspiring and gave my family a totally different perspective when it comes to appreciate art and history. Definitely recommend Eyes of Rome and especially Laura. It was just a fantastic experience!

This review is months overdue. A friend referred me to Eyes of Rome and our tour guide, Serena. We only had 2 and a half days in the city after completing a Mediterranean cruise and wanted to make the most of it. Eyes of Rome made building our plans extremely easy and Serena made the experience extra special, especially given this was our first trip to Rome. After several discussions with Mara on our interests and several options they offered that aligned with those (along with some suggestions from her) we chose to include the Colisseum, the Vatican and St Peters Basilica, and a Scavi tour (a must do), a city walking tour with the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill, and lastly a food and wine tasting experience. We couldn’t have been happier with the selections and the touring vs relaxing ratio in Rome. Serena was fantastic! She was so knowledgeable and well prepared. Not only did she have her iPad to show visuals and provide historic references to particular sites, but she was also able to answer practically all of the questions we had. Though lines were sometimes long, she was able to get us through faster and her relationships with security came in handy when my backpack exceeded one sites allowable size. In addition to having so much knowledge of the sites in Rome, and European history in general, she was a delight to spend time with. She was friendly, energetic, courteous, and ultimately treated us like longtime friends, including staying out longer than the schedule originally planned. She wanted to ensure that this was the best experience possible and it showed in how she engaged with us. I am certain we will utilize Eyes of Rome and Serena when we take our teenage kids back to Rome.

From the moment our guide (Elisa) picked us up, until drop-off, the time spent was invaluable & unforgettable. We were upgraded to an earlier start at the Vatican for free, since it was Good Friday. Truly skipped the lines & throngs of people waiting. The Vatican & St. Peter’s Basilica’s history, artwork, culture & heritage was explained knowledgeably by Elisa including some stories known to only those behind the scenes. which mesmerized & captivated our 17 & 12 year olds. We did two tours, the Colosseum (including the Underground and Hypogeum) and the Early Bird Vatican and St. Peter's Tours, both with Stefania. We are a family of four and had our 12yo and nearly 15yo with us. Stefania was an excellent match for a family. We had another outstanding and highly qualified guide in another city following Rome, and the kids thought she paled in comparison to Stefania. Of course they appreciated Stefania's knowledge and willingness to answer questions, but they loved her energy and enthusiasm. One of the kids remarked that she never made us stop moving just to stop, look, and listen to her talk, by which I think he meant he felt fully engaged the entire time. I highly recommend the Underground and Hypogeum at the Colosseum if it is available and you are able to spend extra. The workings of the Colosseum from below were the most interesting to my teen and really added context and color to the history of the building. The more or less private view from the highest tier far away from the bulk of the crowds was also worth it. It was worth getting up early for the Vatican and St. Peter's tours, because we were able to enjoy the Sistine Chapel and Raphael Rooms before it was SRO. We were even able to find multiple seats from which to peruse the Sistine Chapel ceiling. As a Renaissance art lover, I was disappointed that we didn't get to see more of the rest of the Vatican's collection, but if I'm honest, we saw all that the kids realistically had patience and interest in. We visited on New Year's Eve, and much of St. Peter's was closed off in preparation for the next day's papal mass. That was a disappointment, particularly because I'd been waiting 17 years to see Michelangelo's Pieta again. I would recommend inquiring when papal masses will be and try to schedule around them, particularly if you are visiting around the Christmas/New Year's holiday. I highly recommend Stefania as a guide and would hire her again if returning to Rome.

Truly special tours with Eyes of Rome. Our group of 7 had three tours set up with Eyes of Rome. First 4 of us went on an and evening food and wine tour and had an amazing time! Our guide Francesco made it a very special tour. I felt like a friend was giving us the real low down on eating and drinking in Rome. We started at a Norcinaria and learned a ton about the tradition of curing meats and making salami. We had a full array of salami, prosciutto, and cured meats paired with a light and crispy Grechetto. Next we went to a cheese shop and had a really cool and delicious group of cheeses to try. Francesco paired this with a really good Nebbiolo. The tour finished with a visit to a cool little restaurant/pasticceria for typical roman snacks and some really good Italian Carmenere. Im still trying to figure out how the traditional charcoal bread was so good! Francesco's insight and recommendations regarding food really helped us plan and perfect our eating for the rest of the trip! Next our group of 7 including an 8 year old, took a tour of the forum and the Colosseum. Francesco led us on a fun and informative tour with excellent history and an extremely engaging perspective. Even the young one was entertained. the tour was fantastic and it was totally worth to climb to the top of the Colosseum and enjoy the amazing view of history. Our last tour with Eyes of Rome was an early bird tour of the Vatican and a trip to the dome. Again, Francesco gave us such a good insight and really interesting perspective on the history, architecture and art of this amazing place. I loved his combination of knowledge and humor, it really made this tour memorable. I must thank Eyes of Rome and especially Francesco for his guidance and recommendations. He really helped make this trip great!

Marta was amazing and adorable! She made the past come to life with her passion for history. We loved getting to tour Rome's underground to see what life was like as early as the first century. It was so fascinating to see the many layers of Rome and Marta was a wealth of knowledge and a joy to spend time with. This tour and Marta were recommended to me by a friend and I wholeheartedly endorse both for all who visit Rome. Marta was also incredibly kind to walk us all the way back to our neighborhood following a last-minute taxi strike. We loved this tour with Marta!!!

Our guide Stefania Pistone was fabulous! Our tour was very well conducted and including all of the sites at the Vatican that we wanted to see. Stefania was personable easy to talk to you in very patient with all of our questions. She was very helpful in helping us plan our afternoon excursion as well. I would highly recommend Stefania and the eyes of Rome to anyone traveling to Rome.

Rosalba ('Rosie') was our guide for both our private guided trips in Rome - first to the ancient city and then to the Vatican. We are a couple with 2 toddlers, and after the simply excellent experience on the first trip, we specifically requested her for the next one. She was deeply knowledgeable of all the attractions, clear and interesting in her story-telling as well as savvy in finding a way quickly among the milling crowds. She was particularly considerate of our young tots, and built the tour keeping all in mind as we went along. We had a very pleasant and educational time on both days - recommend her unreservedly!

We took a private tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and Basilica this morning. Fabiana was our personal tour guide. Our experience could not have been better. She was so informative on everything. She took the time to explain what was going on in history when each Pope was featured and was able to explain all the stories associated with each piece of art. Her knowledge was impressive. She was friendly and easy to communicate with. I wish we could take her as we tour other places on our trip. LaDonna Brandon - United States

Excellent guided tour of churches with Marco Mancini from Eyes of Rome. We visited: Pantheon, Santa Maria della Vittoria , San Luigi di Francesi , San Pietro in Vincoli, Santa Maria sopra Minerva. Marco is an archaeologist and he taught me alot about all the places we visited. Not just the works of art, but also stories about the artists (Michelangelo, Caravaggio, Bernini) and I learned a bit about about the history of Italy. Marco was very good company also. We spoke in Italian, because i wanted to practice.. That was great for me.

My Mom and I had a wonderful private tour of the Colosseum and the ancient Forum with our guide Paola Molinari. She was waiting for us when we arrived and quickly had us in the Colosseum. Her knowledge was outstanding and was very helpful in pointing out the highlights as we went through and answering our questions so it wasn't overwhelming for us. My Mom is a bit older so Paola was very good at accommodating her pace and customizing the tour to our needs. I would highly recommend this tour, this tour company and especially Paola for a private tour! Mary McCarthy

Paolo Molinaro was our guide for a tour of the Vatican and Sistine Chapel. She was so knowledgeable and engaging. She pointed out so many interesting facts and has a wonderful grasp of history to compliment the tour. We saw a theater production of Michaelangelo and the Sistine Chapel ( music was by Sting!) later that evening and her information made the experience that much more wonderful for us as we remembered our earlier tour with her. We loved it so much we booked a tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum with her! She had answers to every one of our questions. Our daughter and son in law accompanied us on that tour and later booked their tour of the Vatican with her on a different day! Lovely lady and it made our trip that much better. She was funny and engaging as well.

We have been on any number of private tours in cities around Europe but Andrade is exceptionally talented. This was truly a special experience. Read all you want about the Collosseum and the Forum but it won't compare with what you will experience with Andrade on her tour. The history through the centuries, the rise of the republic and the fall of the empire. What brought a thriving city of over a million citizens to an enlarged village of 20,000, crumbling from neglect. How was the collosseum staffed? Where did the animals come from? How were the immense expenses of building operating and maintaining it paid for? This doesn't scratch the surface of your tour. In a word, Splendid

To say that Maria is wonderful would be an understatement. She is full of information and the way she shared it with us was enthusiastic and painted a picture that we could imagine. Knowing that we are photographers and appreciated art, she guided us and pointed out things. She explained things of interest before we saw them. Maria was extremely interesting and shared all about the history and how each area of the Vatican Museum came about. Thank you Maria for a memory of a lifetime. You are the best!

Excellent Vatican & Sistine Chapel Early Bird Tour : Our tour guide Silvia from Eyes of Rome was excellent. She was very informative, humorous and very personable. She was right on time and picked us up from our hotel and took us by cab to the Vatican. We were able to get in early and she was able to get us ahead of the bog crowd. As it was a private tour with 4 in our group it was really easy for her to tell us all bout the architecture, paintings/painters /sculptures. It can get quite crowded and noisy inside due to so many tour groups and I would highly encourage you to take a private tour with Eyes of Rome. Highly recommend eyes of Rome to any tourist in Rome.May be a bit pricier than other but definitely worth it. Awesome tour, awesome guide!

She tells the story of the meanings behind paintings, what life was like spending a day at the coliseum and how the locals spent time in the catacombs visiting with their deceased family members, and of course the Vatican. All truly interesting tours so far and it's easy to learn about and book tours on their site. We've recommended Eyes of Rome to several people.

He had an incredible knowledge of the history of the Coliseum which was quite different than we had expected from Gladiator movies. Our family immensely enjoyed our tour with Maria today. She was on time, friendly, and so knowledgeable about the Vatican museums, the Sistine Chapel, St. Peter's Basilica, and Rome in general! If we had just went in by ourselves, we would not have been able to fully appreciate the history and intricacies of the Vatican in the way we did with Maria. The flexibility of the private tour also meant we could ask questions and stop whenever we wanted. The Early Bird entry is a god-send as we didn't have to squish our way through the crowds that form after 9am. We were able to immediately enter as soon as the Vatican opened and had lots of time and space to take nice pictures as well as enjoy the tour in an unrushed manner.

Our tour was also supposed to include Palentine Hill, but some members of our party were unable to climb too many stairs/hills, so she was able to easily substitute a tour of the Basilica of San Clemente. There was so much to see, we were able to skip several lines and with his expert guidance we breezed through the most hectic crowds. If you are even just thinking of doing this kind of tour, do not hesitate. You will not be disappointed. The time, effort and knowledge went a long way. When we left we all knew more of Roman history. The thing that really blew us away was the attention to detail that we would have missed, like what was in the paintings and why, mosaics, statues and so much morel

We utilized Eyes of Rome for a tour in Rome (May 29) and in Florence (May 30). In Rome, we had a group of 13 (including two children) and in Florence we had a group of 16 (including three children). In Rome, we opted to do the Colosseum Tour and had Maria as our Tour Guide. A couple of us had already been to the Colosseum before (and had a private tour guide then). However, the majority of our group had not, so we found Eyes of Rome and decided to give them a shot. We were so blessed to have Maria. She was so engaging and provided so many details about the Colosseum and the Roman Forum that those of us that had been there many times before...learned something new. She kept the children so engaged and told so many stories that the kids said this was one of their favorite stops on our vacation. We were able to see so many things within the Forum Maria was a wealth of knowledge and I would highly recommend utilizing her for any tour that you book within Rome. We were on a Disney cruise, so our next stop was in Florence. In Florence, we had more of our travel party attend the tour. Our tour guide was Marco. Let me say, this was just as good as our time in Rome. We were running late (as our charter bus was coming in from Livorno, and we had to drive to Florence...) and our bus driver couldn't speak English that well, so we asked Marco to call our charter bus driver and he literally met us right at where the charter bus was dropping us off. The walking tour took us throughout the city and Marco was so knowledgeable, kind, engaging, and helped us to learn and enjoy the culture of Florence. This was my parent's favorite tour and I would highly recommend this one as well. Overall, you cannot beat Eyes of Rome. Both of our tour guides were a wealth of knowledge and had so much charisma that was engaging the entire time we were with them. Do not hesitate...utilize them. It is so worth it.

Rosalba was our tour guide for our visit to the Vatican and the Colosseum. Her wealth of information is phenomenal and so much that my head hurts by the second day trying to keep all the details I was learning. It was our first time in Rome and we only had a few days to spend so my wife and I decided to get a tour guide. With all the travels we’ve made to different countries, this was our first time having a tour guide and it was a good decision and very well worth it. We normally just read up about the place my wife and I will visit and then capture photos to remember and reminisce. This time around and having a tour guide, our visit is more meaningful with deeper appreciation and understanding of the history behind the places we visited. Yes nowadays with technology it is so easy to get information and in different formats e.g. video, web, etc. but having a live person actually story-telling its history and answer questions makes the past really come alive! My wife and I enjoyed our time visiting the Vatican and the Coliseum and with Rosalba’s story-telling, she definitely made our learning a very entertaining experience. When in Rome, I would highly recomend getting a tour guide. When selecting a tour guide company, I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome. Last but not the least, I would highly recommend getting Rosalba as your tour guide! Thank you so much Rosalba. We’ll definitely be back and hopefully reconnect.

My mom's bucket list had the Sistine Chapel at the top, so we put together a trip that included that and an 11 day cruise. We had 1.5 days in Rome at the end of our cruise to get a highlights tour of Rome and the Vatican. I looked at tour operators extensively on the Internet knowing that: 1) we didn't have a lot of time and 2) neither one of us enjoys large group tours. The Eyes of Rome company seemed to be a perfect fit. They offered private tours that we could customize just for us. We ended up booking at 3 hour golf-cart tour of Rome after we got off the cruise ship and then a 4 hour Early Morning Vatican tour the next day. In both cases we had the tour guides pick us up at our hotel, which was wonderful. For the 3 hour golf cart tour we had Serena (and a separate golf cart driver who's name I can't recall). Serena has such a wonderful personality and we were immediately comfortable with her. We discussed what we had seen (nothing) and wanted to see (as much as possible) and away we went. The driver did such an amazing job on the city streets of Rome, we never once felt like our lives were in jeopardy. At some of the sites we had to get out of the golf cart and walk to where the sites were but the driver got us as close as possible. My mom, who has knee issues, did not have any problems with this. Serena and the driver were able to take us to a lot of sites and even threw in a bonus site of the Maltese Embassy key hole(super cool!!!). Along the way she gave us history of Rome and what we were seeing and we were able to ask questions. She even took pictures of us at some of the sites with our cameras so both mom and I could be in the picture. At the end of the tour I felt like I was leaving a friend. The next day we had an early morning Vatican tour with Giuliano. This was our last day in Rome and were very tired of traveling. But, the Sistine Chapel was the motivator for the whole trip, so we had to press on. Giuliano met us at our hotel and we took a taxi cab over to the Vatican Museum entrance. While we were standing in line for the 8am early opening (the general public can go in at 9am) we decided to head straight to the Sistine Chapel. Giuliano explained all about the chapel and showed us pictures so we'd know what we were seeing. The museum opened up and Giuliano was able to guide us on the route with the ramps/elevators and the least amount of steps while not going too fast. The Sistine Chapel was an emotional experience for us and Giuliano gave us ample time to look and absorb what we were seeing. We went through the rest of the museum with Giuliano providing a good amount of information along the way. We eventually made it over to St Peter's which was another emotional time. When it was time to end the tour we again felt like we were leaving a friend. I highly recommend Eyes of Rome and especially Serena and Giuliano.

This was our first visit to Italy. We booked the Colosseum tour and the city walking tour on the same day. Our guide was Stafania Pistone. I have to say I was a bit hesitant about booking the city walking tour as I figured I could easily find all the sites myself. The city walking tour turned out to be the best thing I did, Stefania not only showed and explained all the sites to us, she took us through the back streets that we would never have found on our own. For lunch we went to a nice little wine bar that she had recommended. It was also excellent. The following day we had the early bird Vatican tour booked and before parting on the first day, Stefania told us she wasn't sure if she would be giving us the tour or not. We were glad to see her walk through our hotel door that morning to give us the Vatican tour. Stefania is patient and walked at our pace and never once made us feel like we were rushed. Stefania also knew we had a few more days in Rome and was kind enough to send an email to us with a few more sites that we could visit on our own. I am sure all the guides at eyes of Rome are excellent, but if your fortunate enough to get Stefania as your guide, consider yourselves blessed. Chris and Beth

My Family and I had three seprate tours with Angela Caiati , after the first day touring the Colosseum and Roman Forum we made sure to request Angela for day two and three. we toured the Vatican and St Mark's Basilica on day two and Villa Borghese on day three. Angela's deep expertise on the history and the way she presented the information to us was excellent, she certainly made our three tours very interesting and very memorable.

Highly recommend privately touring the Vatican with Alessia R. and requesting the earliest time slot. Alessia is an exceptional tour guide, very professional, and a delight to be with. She is very knowledgeable and would be a wonderful guide at any destination in Rome. Wish I could have toured all of Italy with Alessia :-)

Stefania was an amazing guide. It was our first time in Italy and she took us all around the city showing us hidden gems. She also told us where her favorite places are to eat, it was some of the best food we had there! Thanks Stefania!

Wonderful experience, definitely the way to go. Our tour guide Serena was on time, and ready to share her knowledge with us. She made the tour enjoyable and interesting while giving us just the right amount of history and detail. She also gave us great dining suggestions for the rest of our trip. Her smile and energy made this an absolutely incredible experience. Highly recommended and will be back for more!

Amazing tour - both Francesco and Marco gave wonderful, informed and a passionate tours of The Vatican, St Peter's Basilica, The Sistine Chapel, The Coloseum and The Forum. Learned a lot and enjoyed.the company of these two guys immensely. Extra credit to both our guides for recommending amazing coffee & incredible restaurants.

Stefania Pistone Of Eyes of Rome is knowledgeable, interesting, entertaining, flexible and just simply a delight. We booked a tour on our 4th day in Rome after spending the first three touring with our high school. Our teenage boys (ages 12-16) were tired of tours and fought us. However the adults knew that even in 3 days there was still a lot we had not seen. Estefania was engaging from the very begininning. She made it interesting. The boys asked questions impressing her with their knowledge and thirst to learn and she tied things and made connections for them that made the history interesting. I highly recommend that you book a tour.

Stefania was the perfect tour guide and Eyes of Rome came through with 5-stars! I can't say enough great things about her! We spent two wonderful days with her in and around Rome and I would gladly recommend her to anyone traveling to Rome and in need of a personal guide. She was always on time, had a well thought out itinerary in hand and made adjustments as needed to perfectly accommodate us. Her friendly attitude and upbeat nature was so wonderful and she related very well to our 11-year old son who's interests were sparked by everything she said. Her knowledge of the Vatican museums and St. Peter's were so impressive. She knew exactly how to give just the right amount of detail to keep the tour moving but also provide insights beyond just what could be read on plaques. I would absolutely request her again for my next trip to Rome and can't wait to go back!

From the very start we felt comfortable and in great hands with Allessandro as we embarked on our tour of the Vatican. He is utterly charming, personable and extremely knowledgeable. A former archaeologist, he now delightfully shares his love of art and antiquities with visitors to Rome. Although it was my fourth Vatican tour, Allessandro gave me insights and details I had never experienced before. His passion spilled over every few feet as we'd come upon another piece of art. His generous love, his need to help us understand and appreciate what we were seeing, his sense of humor and his ability to connect with all six of us (of all different ages) make him absolutely extraordinary. We will never forget Allessandro and all the beauty he showed us.

We hired a guide from Eyes of Rome for two tours and the guide (Katie) was excellent. We saw catacombs one day and Ostia Antica another day. It was worth spending more to have our own private, well-informed guide. Thanks also to the admin staff who were so quick at returning our email requests.

Luisa was an amazing tour guide. She really cared about us as a group and really interacted well with my 2 teens boys. She spoke excellent English. She is an Art History major and has such a passion for Rome and teaching others. She took us on a private tour of the Vatican. She met us at the hotel and took a taxi ride to the Vatican with us. Along the way, she shared all kinds of information about the sights that we were passing in the taxi. We loved her so much that we hired her again the next day to take us to Ostia Antica. She brought her tablet with her and shared pictures of what Ancient Rome would have looked like. She thoroughly answered all of our questions. When we go back to Rome, we will hire her again to take us to see some different sights.

Eyes of Rome (ELISA!!) was awesome!! My wife, three young children and I recently spent 4 days in Rome and had multiple tours with Elisa and she was fantastic. It was our first trip to Rome and it just wouldn't have been the same had we not had such a personable and knowledgeable guide. She even helped me buy tickets to a Lazio football (soccer) match! Highly recommend!!

Stefanià came highly recommended by a friend, and she she definitely exceeded our expectations. She was a wonderful guide for our trip to the Vatican. She is exceptionally knowledgeable as well as being very personable and engaging. We couldn't have asked for more. We only wished we'd had time to do the walking tour of Rome with her -- next time! Thanks Stefanià.

Our group of 10 relatives and friends totally enjoyed our 3 hour Eyes of Rome Vatican tour. Our tour guide, Serena, was amazing!!! Great information that was presented in a very personal way, a pace that was a good match for our group and not being tied up in all the lines as we entered. I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome and, of course, Serena.

Our tour guide Elisa Taddei was delightful and adept. She made our Vatican experience a pleasant, awe-inspiring and knowledgeable one. I'm sure she has given many, many tours but she had the enthusiasm of someone giving the tour for the first time. Really great. Also, Eyes of Rome was very understanding in holding our booking when we had a family emergency and our trip plans became uncertain. Their empathy and willingness to work with us gave us considerable peace of mind and we are very grateful for that.

I was referred to Eyes of Rome by a colleague of 25 years. I have been to Rome several times but never used a tour company as I am fairly independent when traveling. This was a trip for my two daughters who have been taking college level Art History courses, and I wanted to make their first experience enriching and memorable. The company was very responsive and attentive with quick and thorough responses. I asked for a well educated guide, who was fun, and easy to understand and not too intense. They EXCEEDED all expectations! Stefania is warm, engaging, passionate, fun and has university degrees in Art History! I cant imagine not having a great time in Rome, but I will say, Stefania made it the best trip I have ever been on and I have traveled the world! Informative, interesting, enriching.....as well as personal interaction we would never have gotten from a group tour or on our own. Worth every euro, would not hesitate to recommend Eyes of Rome with my highest possible rating of excellence. -----Elizabeth Grey DVM

My adult daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful afternoon with Serena, visiting landmarks that were significant in the life of Saint Paul. I have visited Europe at least once a year for the past 15 years and can say that Serena was one of the most informed guides I have ever had the pleasure of using. In addition to her knowledge, she was outgoing, friendly, and spoke excellent English. We could not have asked for a more educational and enjoyable experience.

We went on the special early morning private Vatican tour just my wife and I and our brilliant tour guide Marida such a knowledgable guide who not only knew all about the buildings and exhibits where to take the best photos, she also knew how to avoid crowds charm the guards to allow us to skip queues and take short cuts across the dreaded roped off areas our tour lasted 3.5 hours and we covered so much ground and history and art wonderful! This Tour is worth every penny a great memory.

I booked 2 tours with them: Vatican and Colosseum Belvedere (attico) 5 months prior our arrival in Rome. 3 days before the Colosseum Belvedere (attico) tour, they e-mailed me that they couldn't get belvedere tickets. Instead, they offered us a free car drop-off to my accomodation. They also told me that the tour would be 3 hours instead of 3.5h . I thought that paying a tour company 5 times the original ticket price would at least get me what I exactly wanted but it did not. Kinda of a bitter taste

We had a very disappointing experience with Eyes on Rome when our Private Vatican tour, that had been booked >2 months in advance, ended up with a No Show Guide. When we contacted them they did immediately refund our fee - however, it was now too late to get Skip the Line tickets and we spent hours in line to see St Peter’s and the Sistine chapel. Not how we planned to spend precious vacation time. Follow up on this tour was initiated by us by submitting a 1 star review, after which we received a quick response from the Operator apologizing and offering a free replacement tour. We were no longer in Rome, however, they did arrange for a replacement tour in Venice. The Venice tour with Simona was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. That tour deserves a 5 star rating. Therefore, I have adjusted the overall rating to 3 star. Eyes of Rome did react well, once contacted, and provided a knowledgeable and pleasant tour guide. However, m it would not be truthful to give a 4 or 5 Star overall as the situation did impact our vacation dealing with the logistics. Thank you Eyes of Rome for the Venice tour. We would not avoid booking with Eyes of Rome if we ever return to Italy, as they have proven that they can provide a tour as booked.
