Our private tour was perfect - at our pace and Manny was very knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot and loved it!

People Say About This Tour
What a fantastic afternoon we had enjoying this tour. From the hotel pick-up to meeting our lovely guide Marielinda who provided an absolutely first class service, we couldn't rate this highly enough. Marielinda's knowledge and expertise was amazing - she really brought it all to life and was able to answer so many questions. Thank you so much!
Wonderful tour and our guide was well versed on the history and helping us navigate. Private tour is really the way to go!
Highly recommend this tour and our tour guide! Katie was fantastic and especially wonderful with our children, ages 9 and 11. She was engaging, patient, and did an incredible job keeping them interested throughout the tour. Katie is a wealth of knowledge in all areas of Roman history and presented everything in a way that was both informative and fun. This tour was a highlight of our trip, and we are so grateful we had Katie as our guide!!
Una visita impresionante. El guía Lorenzo de lo mejor de Roma. Atento y respondiendo a todas nuestras preguntas. Gran conocimiento de la historia. 10 de 10.
Ask for Simone Lanna. He was very personable, knowledgeable and made this tour a very memorable experience.
We booked three tours with Eyes of Rome: the Coliseum and Forum; the Pantheon and Piazza Navona; and the Vatican Museum and St. Peter's Basilica. We did it to try and make the most of our week in Rome. It was a good decision to do so. The guides are professional and knowledgeable, but wear their expertise lightly. They are fun and sensitive to their clients. It gave us a much deeper and personalized appreciation of Rome. Highly recommended. There is so much to see in Rome, and the guides were able to frame what we were seeing and give background, for example for the Sistine Chapel, so that we could comprehend the sights. The three of us feel that our memories are stronger and deeper because of the guides.
This was an amazing tour! Having our own guide for the four of us was incredible. Would highly recommend this as a to do when in Rome. The Coliseum and the Roman Forum are a great piece of history.
Our tour guide for the tour Rosalba Cilione - Rosie was amazing. She did such a great job ! Would recommend her to everyone. Also make sure you do the underground portion of the Colosseum that was the best part.
My husband and I had a great time visiting the Colosseum with Alex! He was very sweet and had so much knowledge that he shared with us. I have visited the Colosseum before when I was young, and still learned a lot that I didn’t know. Alex took so many pictures for us which we really appreciated as we were on our honeymoon and Rome has the best views! Thank you, Alex!
Our private tour with Benjamin was absolutely excellent! He was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the history of Rome. Benjamin brought the Colosseum and Roman Forum to life with fascinating stories, detailed explanations, and a great sense of humor that kept us interested the entire time. We really appreciated how he tailored the experience to our pace and questions, making sure we got the most out of every stop. His enthusiasm and depth of knowledge made us see these ancient sites in a whole new way. This was one of the best tours we took in Rome. We highly recommended for anyone who wants a deeper, more personal understanding of the city’s incredible history!
Really great. Had a great swearing at. I’m totally worth money for a private trip. Get there early. I truly there will be 9 million tourist that will show up even if you’re there at the 8 AM one
This was the very best way to learn about the history at the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Our guide Lena was so knowledgeable and personal. Since it was just the two of us with her, we could ask more details. Getting in first thing in the morning is so helpful because there are less people. Our drivers there and back were fantastic! Maximo picked us up and was able to get us there in time despite the fact that roads were closed due to the Pope arriving. Same for Giovanni was an absolute blast! Again we had a lot of traffic to contend with and he managed us beautifully. I would totally book this again because I’m sure I didn’t get nearly enough photos!
Eva was wonderful!!! She made our first day in Rome together fun and engaging. We learned so much about the history of the Colosseum and forum. We would highly recommend her for your tours!
Eleonara was fantastic! We did a private tour and she took time to tailor our coliseum and Roman forum experience. She is incredibly knowledgeable and a great storyteller. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and highly recommend this guide and company.
We had an absolutely fantastic experience with our tour guide during our visit to the Roman Colosseum and Roman Forum. From the start, they were professional, warm, and incredibly friendly, which immediately made us feel comfortable and welcomed. As an archaeologist, their depth of knowledge and passion for the history and culture of Rome was truly remarkable, and they explained everything in such an engaging and easy-to-understand way. What really stood out was how our guide brought the sites to life — weaving together historical facts, little-known details, and vivid storytelling that made us feel like we were stepping back in time. Beyond the tour itself, they also gave us excellent tips and recommendations for exploring the city, from hidden gems to practical advice that really enhanced the rest of our stay in Rome. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Professional, insightful, and personable, they truly made our visit an unforgettable experience. Highly recommend!
The guy was friendly and knowledgeable and was able to Taylor tear our tour to meet our physical needs. The driver was pumped and delivered us to our location. However, did not find out until the night before that there was no return trip to our hotel. Unsatisfactory. I have never been on a trip where I was not dropped off where I was picked up at. However, the world tax is available that that required a lot of walking which I found very troublesome painful and would not book through this. Again. Very disappointed. Found out afterwards that I could have gotten taxis a lot cheaper.
We did a private tour of the Colosseum and Forum with Alessandro, and he was excellent. Despite the huge crowds, he navigated us smoothly and made the experience stress-free. His knowledge of the history and details of both sites was immense, and he answered every question with patience and depth. On top of that, he happily took plenty of photos for us, which my wife and I really appreciated. The tour felt personal, engaging, and enjoyable from start to finish. We’d highly recommend booking with Alessandro if you want an informative and memorable visit.
Great guide. So knowledgeable and friendly. Really taught us so much! Highly recommend! Very special experience !
We had a wonderful and knowledgeable tour guide (Mirta sp?) on this private tour. The history of the Forum and Colosseum are fascinating.
Our tour of the Roman Forum, Palatine Hill, and the Colosseum with Simone was truly a top highlight from our Italian Vacation. Not only is Simone a kind and humorous person, he is also an archaeologist, which provided us with an especially unique and special experience as we explored these historic sites. I particularly loved that Eyes of Rome offers pickup from your hotel (within a certain range) to your tour, and that the tour is TRULY private. It was only the four of us in our family plus Simone, and I cannot express how nice it was not to be in just another 'cattle call' like most tours are. If we ever make it back to Rome, we would only tour with Eyes of Rome (and Simone!).
This made visiting the Colosseum super fun and VERY easy. It was nice to be able to turn my brain off (I’m the planner of my trip) and be guided by a professional - while still learning something and seeing all the main spots. It was also helpful to not have to wait in long lines and get special access to certain sections. Our guide was Gianluca. He was really good and made us really feel and understand the history! Super chill.
This was a fantastic private tour: our guide (Gina) was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Well worth the expense.
Our guide Marina was excellent and highly knowledgeable about the Forum and Colosseum. We saved a lot of time by having the special access and the floor of the Colosseum was definitely a highlight. One great thing about a private guide was the ability to spend extra time or investigate other features that we were interested in, also we were able to move at a pace that was appropriate for the group. Marina was very good at assessing what level of detail we liked. We would highly recommend her and this tour.
Michaela was amazing! She was knowledgeable, engaging and captured our kids’ imagination. The tour was one our kids favorite part of our trip to Rome, largely thanks to Michaela. Thanks for bringing history to life!
Lot of walking and based on our guide, very informative. Many opportunities for group photos. Access to areas most others didn't have.
Marley was fantastic! Extremely personable, kind, knowledgeable, patient and caring tour guide. We would love to book her for a full tour of Rome one day. Absolutely amazing!!! Was kind enough to let us take photos with her phone and send them over because our phone had died near the end of the tour. One of my favorite tours!!
We loved this tour! our tour guide, Lina, was very informative, professional and made the tour interestingly fun! She always made sure we were comfortable and asked about our accessibility needs.
Great tour! We had Luigi - he was amazing! Very engaging and funny guide. We had a great time. Highly recommend. It did get hot, so you need water. Bring your own water.
Un souvenir qui restera gravé dans nos mémoires, une guide exceptionnelle ( Eva mille merci pour votre accueil très chaleureux et votre visite a été top !!) qui nous a fait voyager dans le temps, SPQR !!
Mr. Andrea thank you for the excellent tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Me and wife learned some real facts that we would never have guessed or know about if you hadn't educated us on the real. It was an overall great experience, and I wish we had taken a picture together so I could have posted it with this review. Your a good guy. Thanks again for the tour.
What a blessing to be able to skip lines and avoid large tours! Personalized and plenty of time for questions, photos and a requested stop at the gift shop.
As travelers from Hawaii we were a little nervous about our first trip to Europe. Tours of Rome was nothing short of amazing. We booked multiple tours as well as hotel and airport transfers. Our guide Gianluca was great and made it wonderful for our group of all ages. Look no further booking with this company is the way to do it!
Raquele did an amazing job covering the history including original imagery of the sites. She is enthusiastic and a wealth of knowledge.
We had an amazing tour with Ava! She was incredibly knowledgeable and we very much enjoyed our time with her. The experience overall included transport to and from the coliseum and that was welcome after a long trek! We also got to experience the floor of the coliseum which was also a major highlight. Exceptional experience! Hope you have the opportunity to meet Ava one day!
We visited Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill on a private tour with Gianluca. He was an excellent guide! He was super knowledgeable about the sites and their historical context & also knew the logistical ins and outs of visiting these very popular spots. He had a great sense of humor and was flexible in terms of seeing what we were most interested in, taking breaks for the gift shop and drinks, answering questions, & making other local recommendations. If you can swing it, a private tour is a great way to appreciate these monuments. Highly recommend!
Our guide was knowledgeable, personal and fun! We learned so much about Roman history and the incredible ruins that remain. Definitely recommend!
Michaela was the perfect guide. Very knowledgeable and personable! Would highly recommend Vistor for tours…we did one in Venice, too. Actually, we’ve already recommended them to a friend visiting Rome soon.
Definitely a must do in Rome. The tour was good and the private group a great deal with pick up. My feedback is that the guides were too rushed. Almost fell like an express and this tour was not cheap. Suggest you take the time to truly guide and also give time for groups to explore.
We expected this visit to the Forum and Colosseum to be one of the highlights of the trip and it do not disappoint. Luca was our guide and he was great. He was extremely knowledgeable and flexible in explaining the things that we were more interested in. He used maps and photos he brought with him to help us visualize the original layout and appearance of the sites; that was very helpful. He was later kind enough to email us files of some of the materials he used so we would have them as a reference. He was also happy to offer to take photos for us as a couple., which was very convenient. Gracie Luca!
What an amazing experience. Our guide was very knowledgeable and engaging. My husband was in a wheelchair so she always made sure to stop in the best places for him to enjoy the views and in the shade when possible.
This was a great overview of the Colosseum & Roman Forum. Alessandro was excellent- he was very knowledgeable and was very pleasant to spend time with as he taught us about the ancient sites. He also was very patient with our picture taking and took some great photos of us! I would highly recommend this tour if you’d like to see the inside of the Colosseum & understand what you’re actually looking at both there & in the Roman Forum!
Our guide was fantastic! She was energetic, knowledgeable and supremely prepared. It was the end of our trip and I was low in cash and unable to tip her as deserved. She deserved triple what I gave her. My daughter and I left with vast knowledge about the Grounds and its history.
My wife and I took a tour with Katie & and it was incredible! Katie was super easy to get along with, was extremely knowledgeable, and lovingly answered all of my questions (I ask a lot of them). Having a private guide is a must when it comes to these sites. We were able to avoid large crowds and lines and had easy, personalized access to everything we wanted to see. 10/10 recommend!
Just us two and our super-knowledgable tour guide (an archeologist). Huge amount of information to take in around the Forum, left us somewhat overwhelmed. The Colosseum is awesome and must have been hugely dominant in the lives of the Romans. What a structure! So much more to it than I imagined.
Rosalba was a wonderful and cheerful guide on our three hour tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum. She brought history to life with in-depth stories and details that I wouldn't have noticed had I simply gone on my own, and as an added bonus handled all of the ticketing and communication with security and entry staff. If you find yourself in Rome I highly recommend Rosalba if you're looking for a guided tour.
Our guide Rosalba was excellent, so engaging, made history come alive, answered all our questions. An enjoyable and educational experience
Wonderful tour with Elieonora our guide. Fun, great knowledge, and a passion that was contagious. Standing in the floor of the colosseum was a highlight. Loved it!!
Our guide Ellie was amazing. Her knowledge of history and architecture was remarkable and her presentation was wonderful. Her business card read 'storyteller' which is the perfect description. She made the Coloseum come to life. We learned so much.
Pamela was incredibly knowledgable and had a remarkable mind for history. We loved every minute with her.
We really enjoyed our tour with Marco on the 14th of Sept 2024. He was extremely informative, funny and helpful. It was great not having to wait in any queues. Our driver who picked us up was also very friendly.
Alessandro was very knowledgeable and personable. He encouraged questions and took time to be sure our questions were addressed.
Raphaela was wonderful. She went at a pace that was appropriate for the group and was always looking for ways to ensure we saw everything in the crowded areas. Her passion for and knowledge of the Colosseum and the Forum were self evident at the get go.
This was a truly wonderful tour. We were promptly picked up at our hotel and brought to meet our knowledgeable Tour guide, who spoke perfect English, let us tour at our own pace (plenty of time for photos), and thoroughly answered our questions. I do not feel we would have had nearly as good of an experience doing this on our own or even in a large group, and I'm thrilled we splurged for the Private Tour. Highly recommend!
Wondeful private tour, great guide with wealth of knowledge and a beautiful late September morning. Simply an incredible venue to see.
Our guide, Barbara was very knowledgeable and friendly. We enjoyed our time together. We would suggest this private tour highly.
All was just amazing, the history , the story and how the concept was developed. Our guide made it so easy to learn all the different details. She was the best ( Ilana ).
The guide was great. She was very knowledgeable and provided the history and fun facts. Would definitely recommend this tour.
Irene was an amazing guide! She was so friendly and gave thorough details throughout. We had a great time!
Very informative and personable. Our guide was an archeologist who worked in the forum. He had such great explanations to all of our questions.
Ornellawas extremely professional and knowledgeable and detailed and made a huge difference in our personal guided experience and would highly recommend her to anybody. sincerely a professional, from Glenn and Francine, Toronto Ontario Canada
Helena was an absolute joy to be with yesterday. The tour layout was perfect and we saw all the major events within the Roman period. Everything was simple from start to finish; Purchasing the tickets, notification two days in advance of the plans and delivery of final details. Thank you and know we will use you in the future for our travel experiences!!!!
What an awesome experience and she was so kind to take some extra time when we needed a break. I’d give her ten stars!
Worth Every Penny! The guide was great! This was a tough tour due to uneven surface walking. The guide was so great in helping us navigate the quickest and most enjoyable ways through the sites. We said several times during the tour that we would never want to do that without a guide. We got in and out but still enjoyed and learned. She answered so many of my questions. I was so thankful for the ability to get around and see all the things on time. My mom would not have been able to go much further and she helped to ensure that we got to see all the important items we wanted to see. We did it all before the energy was gone!
Hands down the best tour I’ve ever taken. Underground, arena and first level of the Colosseum as well as the Roman Forum was showcased in a fun, knowledgeable way by Gianluca Pica. Informative and really takes care of his clients. The pacing was excellent, the views were amazing and history was explained in the best way. Thank you Gianluca!
So informative! Our guide Irene was amazing. We loved being able to visit the floor of the Colosseum. The Forum was equally as impressive! Thank you!
What an amazing time today. Thank you to our wonderful tour guide Francesca who made the day unforgettable! Highly recommend this your with the private guide.
The pick up and meet up with the guide was seamless. The guide was great and knowledgeable. She really helped us customize our tour for our personal preferences. We loved it and would highly recommend it.
Chiara was super nice and informative. We learned a lot about the Colosseum and history that we never knew of! I don't know if families with little kids would enjoy it as much but my kids are 14 and 11. Would definitely recommend!
Wonderful tour! Our guide was so patient with our 4 children! Highly recommend this trip even with the Rome summer heat, there are plenty of water refill stations available.
Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable, she was patient and really made our experience memorable. They went the extra mile in creating an underground tour for my mom’s 76th birthday
Our guide, Luigi, did a great job of showing us all the sites, adding special insights and was a pleasure to work with. Luigi was engaging, knowledgeable and knew when we needed a break on a hot day! Everything about the Colliseum and Forum was fascinating and Luigi helped us to get the most from our visit.
The transport to the site was something out of the fast and the furious. It was crazy fast, but the driver was excellent and in control the whole time. Our tour guide was wonderful. She was very knowledgeable and flexible with the content we wanted to see and what we were not interested in. The only downside was there is no transport back to your hotel. So the extra price you pay is only for pick up from your hotel to the tour site. The amount charged should include both.
What a wonderful morning with our excellent guide! She was well informed and gave us just the right amount of history and some humor too! In spite of the temperatures being so high she kept us in the shade as much as possible. Would highly recommend this tour!
Very satisfied with guide as she leads us through the busy colloseum with little to no wait. Understood the historial context of different landmarks - Excellent service and 10/10 would recommend
Learning about the naval battles that in fact did occur, sand and blood of the gladiators, rapid filling and drainage of the arena, Velum, and of courser the in depth tour of the Forum
Raquelle, our guide was excellent! She was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. Our whole experience was great!????
Maria-Linda was an excellent tour guide. It was a little too hot for the kids so we had to cut the tour short but I would have gone all day talking to her. She was informative but fun and interesting, not just canned historic facts!
Luigi was great! Very knowledgeable and insightful. Actually worked as an archaeologist excavating part of the ruins seen on tour. Would definitely recommend this.
Inglese was great! She was able to explain all the history and what is important. She even assisted in suggesting where to eat
I was worried about visiting Rome during such a busy time and Saturday our only day for the Colosseum/Forum tour. Gianluca helped us navigate big crowds for a very personal and memorable experience. Thank you for providing a top notch service. Highly recommend this company and this guide!
We had a limited time in Rome so we wanted to make the most of it. Our trip to the Colosseum was fantastic because of our private tour guide Gia. She was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history we were experiencing, that she made the trip perfect. We might have been able to visit the Colosseum alone, but we never would have understood it like we do because of Gio. Highly recommend this trip with her.
My group of 5 thoroughly enjoyed our tour by Rosie. She was friendly, engaging and so informative. We learned a lot! Would highly recommend doing this your private rather than a large group. Worth it!
My guide was absolutely wonderful. She was extremely informative, gracious and a lot of fun. I would request her again.
Ileonora our tour guide meet us outside the colleseum and gave us an excellent tour of the colleseum showing us illustrations of what areas we were viewing looked like originally. She was very knowledgeable and gave interesting comments regarding the colleseum and the events held there. She was very good at avoiding the lines and getting us to the most interesting places. Our walk through the Forum was equally well done and informative. The tour was fun and a good learning experience. We highly recommend it.
Excellent tour. So knowledgeable and professional. No hesitation to recommend to anyone. Very adaptable and able to answer all questions.
This was such an amazing tour! Denis made the deep and rich history of the Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill come alive as we toured. There is so much to take in and appreciate. It was so special and is one of our favorite tours we have taken. Highly recommend Denis and taking a guided tour in order to understand this important area.
Thank you Stefania, for sharing your passion and knowledge about the Colleseum and the Roman Forum. This was by far the best excursion we did during our trip and it was thanks to the personalized attention you gave us.
Everything was excellent from transport to and from as well as the guide who looked after us well and was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of information. Made the tour most enjoyable.
Fantastic! So glad we did this private tour! Would recommend highly.. totally worth it.. guide was so knowledgeable and personable...did vip package with pick up and drop off. Fabulous experience!
I did the private Colosseum and Forum tour. My guide, Alessandro, was extremely knowledgeable of the sites and provided great information. He was able to answer questions and as a former archeologist, he went above and beyond sharing his knowledge. I highly recommend this tour.
Our trip guide Maria was amazing. Super knowledgeable and friendly, a pleasure to spend the day with. Skipping the lines was also a huge benefit, would highly recommend spending the extra money.
Tour and guide were great . Very knowledgeable and accommodating . Guide looked out for both of us and let us rest when she saw we were getting tired
Out Tourguide gave us lots of informations about the history of Rome and the Colosseum - he made a really great job. If we needed space he just wait for us - and he showed us interesting places of ancient history.
Most memorable part of our experience was the exceptional manner, personality & knowledge of our tour guide, Maria. She answered all our questions with an obvious love for her subject. She made our experience exciting.
Luigi our guide was very knowledgeable and passionate regarding our tour. Only negative tour was too short on time. Tour is supposed to be 3 hours. The time should count from when you start the tour at the Colosseum not when you are picked up at the hotel.
Wow! This tour was perfect! Our guide Sarah was incredible....her knowledge and personality made this tour incredible....we would definitely recommend this tour to anyone wanting the complete Colosseum experience! She even recommended an amazing restaurant.... Thank you so much for everything!!
Todo estuvo muy bien, bastante personalizado y con lujo de detalles en las explicaciones. Lo único malo es que no nos dieron el retorno al hotel, pero al final nos sirvió para conocer aún más la ciudad. ????
Very good tour. It was educational and well ran. The Colosseum is one of the most amazing creations and learning about it was a highlight of the trip.
Barbara was wonderful! So nice to be able to skip the long lines and be dropped off and picked up by a private driver as this was our first trip to Rome. Great tour.
On my trip to the Colosseum and Roman Private Tour with Viator, I had the pleasure of being guided by the knowledgeable and friendly Arnella her passion for the city and its history truly elevated the experience. Arnella also spoke Latin, she translated a lot of the scripting on the stones
La compañía de nuestra guía ( Gio ), fue magnífica. Gracias a ella y a sus conocimientos amplisimos sobre la experiencia que contratamos, nos resultó muy interesante y a la vez, familiar. Magnífica en todos los sentidos.
Our tour of the Colosseum and Forum was simply amazing! Our guide was gracious and helped us understand and appreciate the rich history of Rome. We came knowing a little but left learning so much!
Excelente, Azzurra es una guía excelente Nos llevó a conocer el Vaticano, Coliseo y la ciudad, con una atención y gran calidad.
Excellent tour-very knowledgeable. Took us through Colusseum and beyond. Grabbed us a cab at the end.
We had a fantastic tour with Mirta. Mirta was very knowledgeable and easily navigated bad weather for a memorable Colosseum experience.
Private tour is definitely way to go. We learned so much. Floor of coliseum is worth extra. Pick up from hotel made our first day in Rome so much easier!
Cannot state enough the value of having this personal experience with a guide as amazing as Eleonora. I have been a student of Roman history for many years and still learnt so much from her. My son, who is normally board through tours, really enjoyed it and learnt a lot himself. Amazing tour and even better tour guide!
Our guide was so knowledgeable and passionate about the history of Rome. She was very accommodating to what we wanted to see. A memorable tour.
From the drivers picking us up & dropping us off to Michala our private tour guide it was the best experience! Michala was so knowledgeable, sweet, as well as being an archeologist she made our trip!
Our guide, Raquel (Raquela), was fabulous. There’s so much history to learn and imagining those times. It’s incredible to believe that humans built these structures!
Private tour with Luigi was fantastic!!! Really recommend doing a private tour because you get so much more out of it! A little more expensive but we’ll worth it and Luigi was exceptional with knowledge and facts!!!! Ask for Luigi if possible!!!
We had such an amazing experience with Eyes of Rome and Eleonora during our last trip to Rome that we knew we had to book her service again as we returned this year with family. She did an amazing job, yet again. Very informative, with wonderful insight on all aspects of Roman history regarding the Colosseum and Roman Forum. She even remembered us from our experience last year and left us with a very kind personal note! I would highly recommend the private Colosseum and Roman Forum tour, especially with Eleonora as the guide!
Walking the Forum is so much more enjoyable with the experienced guide to bring the ruins to life. Highly recommend
The best part of our experience was our private guide, Ornella. She had so much knowledge and experience. Her stories made everything come to life. She could answer every question we had, and knew the best places to stop and enjoy. Being on a private tour meant we could go at our own pace. The sun was hot, so stopping in the shade and getting water were appreciated. What an unforgettable day!
Maria was a fantastic guide! She was professional, incredibly knowledgeable and extremely thoughtful. She had a story for each of the various highlights she shared that really brought the experience to life. I was jet lagged & tired during the tour & she went out of her way to find places to sit & relax while in the midst of the crowd/chaos. I highly recommend her to everyone for a tour of the Colosseum and Forum!
Luigi was a very knowledgeable guide. Very interesting overall and worth going through the Gladiator entrance.
Once again our Viator experience was exceptional. Black car picked us up to meet our certified guide, Ellie. She was professional, knowledgeable and fun to tour with. Skipped the lines and learned so much in such a short time .
Luigi was so knowledgeable and patient, answering all of our questions and taking the time to let us get pictures to commemorate the trip.
Great tour guide. Simply excellent. We enjoyed her style and her knowledge she tailored the tour to us
Muy bien organizada la recogida y el tour. No tuvimos que esperar ninguna cola y bajamos a la arena, toda una experiencia. Quizá el tour se queda corto en el foro pero en general las tres horas son estupendas. Muy recomendable;
Marco was a great tour guide and conducted the tour on a nice pace to hit all the highlights. Having a private tour was so worth the money to get answers to our questions and not just general info. Definitely would recommend.
What a great tour! We loved being able to skip the lines and having our own guide. Azzurra was wonderful! She is incredibly knowledgeable about Rome’s history and really brought it all to life for us. We could not have asked for a better tour or tour guide!
Private transport on time. Azzurra, our guide, is passionate by her job (history, architecture, story telling) very friendly, knowledgable. She gave us a lot of information verbally and using her iPad for pictures. Also very entertaining for our teenagers. The tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum is amazing and a must. We highly recommend the tour and Azzurra as your guide.
My recent experience on the Roman Forum and Colosseum tour was an absolute highlight of my visit to Rome. Led by the energetic and incredibly knowledgeable guide, Elisa, the tour brought the rich history of these ancient landmarks to life in a way that was both engaging and enlightening. From the moment the tour began, Elisa's enthusiasm was contagious. Her vibrant energy set the tone for the entire experience, ensuring that every participant was fully engaged and eager to explore the wonders of the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Her passion for the subject matter was evident, and it made the tour not only informative but also truly enjoyable. One aspect of Elisa's expertise that truly stood out was her use of modern technology to enhance the tour. Her tablet was a treasure trove of references, visual aids, and insights that she seamlessly integrated into her commentary. These references provided invaluable perspective, allowing us to visualize the grandeur of the Roman Forum and the Colosseum as they once were. This thoughtful approach demonstrated Elisa's commitment to delivering a comprehensive experience that catered to various learning styles. Elisa's kindness, intelligence, and articulate communication were a testament to her exceptional qualities as a guide. She patiently answered every question, ensuring that even the most intricate inquiries were met with clear and insightful responses. Her ability to convey complex historical details in a relatable manner was truly impressive, leaving everyone in the group with a deep appreciation for the significance of these ancient ruins. What truly set Elisa apart was her remarkable skill in bringing the ruins to life. Through her vivid storytelling, the Roman Forum and Colosseum transformed from mere remnants of the past into living monuments with stories to tell. Her narratives bridged the gap between the present and the ancient times, allowing us to envision the vibrant history that once unfolded within these hallowed grounds. My experience on this tour was so remarkable that I'm already eagerly anticipating my next trip to Rome. Without a doubt, Elisa's guidance played an integral role in making this tour an unforgettable memory. I'm looking forward to returning to Rome and, when I do, I will not hesitate to seek out Elisa for another amazing tour. Moreover, Elisa's thoughtful recommendations extended beyond the tour itself. She provided a list of book titles that would allow us to delve deeper into the history and culture of ancient Rome from the comfort of our homes. This thoughtful gesture speaks to her dedication to fostering a lasting connection between her guests and the city's rich heritage. The Roman Forum and Colosseum tour with Elisa was a remarkable journey through time, artfully blending history and entertainment. Her energetic demeanor, technological enhancements, and insightful explanations truly elevated the experience. If you're seeking a guide who can transform ancient ruins into captivating tales, look no further than Elisa. I can't wait to return to Rome and embark on another unforgettable tour under her expert guidance.
Went with my husband and two daughters (12 and 11) and Marta Palombi our guide was wonderful. She kept the tour entertaining for both the adults and kids combined. When I travel back to Rome, Marta will be the first person I contact for all tours
I booked this trip for my 17 year old son and me and we both agree it was the best tour we have had. Emily was the BEST! Very approachable, knowledgeable and enthusiastic. We couldn't have been more pleased with everything from the private driver to the phenomenal tour guide. I highly recommend spending the money for this private tour. The things we learned were priceless.
Our guide Rosalba was very punctual cheerful flexible and helpful. She took us around the Colosseum and the Forum and regaled us with historical facts and anecdotes along with stops for terrific pictures which she thoughtfully also took all the time. She also took us to the Emmanuel Monument at our request to then end the tour- would highly recommend!
It was great getting picked up and dropped off on location. We had Manuel (Manny) as our tour guide and he was fantastic. Super great, interesting information, funny, and entertaining. I highly recommend this tour opportunity.
Luigi was absolutely the BEST!! A PhD trained architect provided an entirely different perspective than you would get from any other tour guide! Pick up and drop off from/to hotel was with the price of a private tour. Fantastico!!!
The tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum was excellent and definitely worth braving the crowds and heat. It's an amazing place steeped in history and awe-inspiring. The tour was made that much more memorable by our tour guide Francesca who was truly passionate about providing a very enjoyable tour with her knowledge of art history, archeology, and Rome She was friendly and patiently took the time to make sure we got the best out of the tor. We would highly recommend the tour and Francesca.
Luigi was fantastic—knowledgeable, friendly and patient, even with extreme heat. We learned so much about the Roman forum and coliseum.
The tour was great, we got to see everything we wanted. The guide was amazing, he made it interesting for kids and adults.
The Colosseum and Roman Forum tour was excellent. Our guide was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and fun. It was a great experience!
Our guide, Katie, was excellent! It was a very hot day and she took good care of us all while giving us great info about the sites. She had great stories and pictures and diagrams of what we were seeing. It really made history come alive for our kids (and us). I am still amazed about some of what we learned about the excavation of these sites. Highly recommend!
Valentina was a great guide and Fabio was a great driver. I would highly recommend this tour as you and the guide can go at your pace and the Information was very helpful.
Brilliant - so easy being picked up from our hotel and meeting Luigi our guide at the entrance. Luigi was an amazing guide - incredibly knowledgeable and a delightful personality. Highly recommend
Francesca was absolutely amazing! A fountain of knowledge about all things Rome, she expertly guided us through the throngs of people, sharing fascinating facts about the Colosseum and Forum. It was a particularly hot day, so she skillfully maneuvered us to shady spots and places where we could rehydrate. 10 out of 10, and we won’t hesitate to book her again on a future visit!
We did this tour including underground in the colosseum with Gianluca as our guide. It was fantastic, very informative, really nice pace and lots of time for discussion, questions. Gianluca knows his subject inside out and Eyes of Rome were excellent, we did three tours in total.
Excelent. Superb service from pick up to drop out. Super atentive guide with excellent historic knowledge. Highly recommended an totally with it.
Leonora Federici, from Eyes of Rome Storytellers gave us a super walking tour of Rome; Insightful, fun and many, many details. Charming and with wit. Impeccable English. Time flew, but in very good company and beatutiful surroundings. She is absolutely on the list for our next visit to Rome. Awsome tour Leonora, thank you!
Manny was incredible! Having a private guide who knows so much about Ancient Rome was invaluable! Such a better experience than the large group format. Do yourself a favor and do a private tour. 1000 times better than any group can provide. VIP experience at its finest
Fascinating tour brought to life by our enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide, Maria. If you only do one to in Rome, do this one.
We had a wonderful time going to the colosseum, the ruins and the Vatican City. Francesco was informative and super fun.
Denis made the most of our 3-hour tour. He is extremely engaging, dynamic, knowledgeable and funny. He felt like an old friend and our 3-hour tour passed by so quickly. We would love to see Denis on a future trip to Rome.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and understood what we wanted to get out of our tour. We had him all day from an earlier Vatican tour. He made it memorable and enjoyable.
Tour guide was very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and will be using your company for future visits.
I can't recommend this tour, this tour company, and specifically Marco enough. This was the trip of lifetime for my wife and I's anniversary and our 2 tours with Eyes of Rome are easily a huge highlight. This tour was with Marco...he's a walking Encyclopedia. Archeologist, story teller, genuinely seems to enjoy leading these tours. If you come to Rome, splurge on a half day private tour. You won't regret it! Thank you Marco!!
We had our tour with azzurra della seta who us a guide ( french language). She was very interesting, very professional and very nice. We really enjoyed it.we highly recommand her!
We spent three hours with Eleonora touring the Colosseum and Forum. My husband and I were very pleased with her guidance and so were out kids (age 15 and 11)!
We had a terrific private tour of the Coliseum, Roman Forum and Pantheon with Gianluca! Gianluca had so much knowledge and showed us other attractions we would have missed if he wasn’t with us. This tour is the best way to see all of these sites without dealing with crowds.
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed doing a private tour of the Colosseum & Roman Forum. It was great to be able to request a Spanish-speaking tour guide, since not all my family speaks English. Very informative and learned a lot of the interesting history. Would definitely recommend.
At the end of two weeks of traveling from Paris, Venice, Florance, and finally, Rome, my wife and I had experienced several tours and clearly what can make or break a tour experience is the host. We had the pleasure of being guided by Eleonora from Eyes of Rome. She did a FANTASTIC job of sharing knowledge in a digestible manner, executing pace of the tour, and providing an experience that became unforgettable even with "museum fatigue." If you reserve the Eyes of Rome tour, do yourself a favor and ask for Eleonora! You won't regret it.
Merta was an amazing guide who helped bring the history to life!! The temples at the Forum were a surprise highlight!
We spent three hours with the brilliant Gianluca touring the Colosseum and Forum. It was fab. My teenage sons are quite shy and were quiet but they have since said that it was the best part of our trip to Rome. We all learned so much beyond the familiar facts and came away with a clear idea of how ancient Rome and its buildings, monuments and people developed over time. It was good fun, absorbing and Gianluca was a fantastic guide. It was a luxury to have a private guide but I think actually good value because of how much we all benefited compared to the very large groups touring alongside us. On our next visit to Rome we would definitely seek out this company again.
This tour felt very personalized for myself and my husband. We got to ask so many questions that we wouldn’t have gotten a chance to ask in a larger group. Our guide was knowledgeable and had great rapport with the staff. Excellent
This tour was perfect for my husband, myself, and our 2 year old. We got to ask so many questions and our guide was so knowledgeable and willing to explain everything. You can tell that history was her passion and I loved picking her brain about the history and how it relates to the current.
Sylvia was so amazing, doing a great job of blending historical fact with storytelling about the period. Having an archaeologist as a guide makes it such a more interesting journey, finding out about why things were done as they were. 100% worth the booking!
We had a great tour with our guide Francesco in Rome. He made our experience very enjoyable and was very knowledgeable, we learnt so much. He showed us a few extra gems which we would not have known about.
Amazing tour of the Colosseum and Forum. Allesandro was our private guide and he was fantastic! We would recommend this tour to everyone. It was well worth the money. Allesandro knows everything and was a pleasure to be with. He stopped to take pictures for us and knew all the great spots. He taught us so much about Roma. Grazie mille Allesandro!!!
I am so glad we book this tour. Our driver pick us up on time at our hotel. Then he dtop us with our tour guide near the coliseum. The tour was amazing. We skipped all the lines and were able to visit inside. Our tour guide was amazing and so knowledgeable. We learned so much with her. After a 3h tour, our driver bring us back to our hotel.
We thoroughly enjoyed our afternoon walking tour with Rosie. We started at the Palatine Hill, followed by the Roman Forum and Colosseum. Rosie has an incredible wealth of knowledge for Roman history and culture. She’s passionate, articulate and engaging in a most pleasant manner. We were surprised that our hours together flew by as we were entertained by her skillful storytelling. We finished up our day feeling we really lucked out with such an exceptional guide! Grazie Mille! Felicia
I took a private tour for Colosseum and Roman forum lasting 3 hours and paid 320euros. My guide Mierta was cheerful and very knowledgable giving me snippets into the Roman past as we first did Roman Forum and then visited Colosseum (ground and upper levels). Thanks to her I knew my way around both these famous landmarks. She is a delightful young lady with ever ready smile and is ready for any questions. I throughly enjoyed the tour but would have liked to see Palatine Hill more closely.
We had the best tour guide, Francesco! He was knowledgeable, fun and a delight to be with for the day. We learned so much and came away very happy to have had the experience.
Pamela was enthusiastic, well versed and knowledgeable. Loved how she made Rome come to life with the iPad and book on Rome. She personalized the tour based on our expectations and needs. We would totally recommend her for this tour. She had a pleasing personality and was fun to spend the day with.
My wife and I just wrapped up a great morning with Azzurra. She was very knowledgeable, fun and patient with all our questions. Her knowledge of the Colosseum was so impressive. I would highly recommend!
What a wonderful day we had with Gianluca touring the Flavian Amphitheater (Collosseum) and the Forum Romanum. Gianluca was enthusiastic about his work, and extraordinarily knowledgeable. All in all, he made our day delightful.
This tour, under the guidance of Gianluca, was a highlight of our week in Rome. Great sights accompanied with the excellent explanations and insights of our history expert, Giuanluca. We covered all the big names in Roman history, and even saw the sight of Caesar's assassination. I can't recommend this tour or Gianluca, highly enough to those who love their ancient history. A MUST DO!
My girlfriend and I completed a private tour with Azzurra of the Roman Colosseum and the Roman Forum. The tour was about 3 hours, a perfect amount of time to explore the sites. Azzurra was an amazing guide with an exceptionally well planned out tour. Her passion for Roman history was evident throughout the trip. She made the trip very interesting for people without prior knowledge of Roman history. 10/10 experience.
Having a personal guide to tour the Colosseum in Rome was an amazing experience. Our guide spent time explaining the history and the restoration efforts in depth and she was passionate about archeology which was great. We would highly recommend this tour!
Rachele Canali was THE BEST GUIDE WE HAVE EVER HAD!!! She was so passionate, descriptive, knowledgeable, and personable. We would recommend her to everyone! She is relatable and her depth of knowledge is absolutely incredible. 10/10!!
Knowledgeable guide and flexible to the needs of the group. Marina our guide was sensitive to how the group was doing in terms of tiredness and heat exhaustion. I will definitely recommend Marina from Eyes of Rome.
Elisa was excellent. She really knew her history and she was very nice and friendly. I would request her as a guide again.
Great and knowledgeable and flexible guy. Great day with the family and kids. Enjoyed tremendously and learned a lot. Even if 3 hours is short!! Thank you .
Silvia is educated in both history and archeology, and her passion for both was contagious. She was entertaining and friendly to our family of four, including our teenage boys who ordinarily despise guided tours. Both boys loved the tour from Silvia of the Colliseum and the Forum, and were attentive and engaged throughout. We highly recommend Silvia Monti as a private tour guide for both English speaking and Italian private tours!
My family was met at our hotel on time and taken to the colosseum in a lovely air conditioned van. There we met our tour guide Rosie for our private tour. She was great - very knowledgeable and kept us going at a good pace! Definitely a ???? experience!!!
Great personalised tour. From the moment Maurizo picked us up we knew this was going to be a great tour. Rosie our tour guide was knowledgeable, helpful and just a lovely person to spend a few hours with learning all about such a special place.
Paola is a certified tour guide. We paid for the luxury tour that’s what we received. Daniel picked us up from our hotel and safely drove us to the Colosseum. Paola pointed out all the interesting spots filled with facts and recommended a great cafe for lunch after our tour.
Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, considerate, and a real pro. He went out of his way to make our tour a great memory.
Our guide was excellent. Knowledgeable, thoughtful, personable and articulate. What an amazing experience. The private tour also allowed more freedom to ask questions and get greater insight. Perfect!
This tour became the highlight of our visit to Rome. This was the second day in a row we spent with Denis (did Vatican previous day). It was clear Denis is very committed to and passionate about his role as a tour guide. We spent a long day together in very hot conditions. Throughout he remained full of energy, shared his amazing knowledge of Roman history in a relaxed, well paced way. He really made the Colosseum come alive for us. Walking with him through the underground (the extra time and fee to add this really is worth it) we could sense and imagine how it must have been. Walking the Forum with him he pointed out so many interesting little things that we could almost close our eyes and see how the Romans went about their way almost 2,000 years ago. Through is narrative he can let you see walls where there are only ruins today, put a roof on a place that has only foundations in front of you and then he allows you time and space when he senses you need it just to reflect on what happened and how it must have been. We feel lucky to have met Denis and the privilege of spending two days in a row with him. On day one he really impressed us during our tour of the Vatican. On day two - if you will please excuse the Colosseum to be likened to a sport event stadium for the moment - he knocked it out the park!
The reason we rated the tour 5 stars was for Azzurra. Absolutely charming, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and a joy to be with. My son is an avid Roman history buff so this tour hit all the important sites. The real surprise was the additional tour of San Clemente Church. Do not miss it. Again, Azzurra brought it all to life and made a remarkable impression on all of us.
The best way to see the Colosseum and Roman Forum. You understand so much more with a great guide like Mirta.
We had a wonderful time. Having a private tour was the best way to visit the Coloseum and Roman Forum. Our guide was the best, very knowledgeable and personable. She was also very patient, allowing us to constantly stop and take pictures. At the end of the tour she even walked us to the metro.
Katie was an EXCELLENT guide for our tour of Ancient Rome (Colosseum & Ruins)! Personally, she’s just delightful and super chill. Sometimes, on a tour, you feel like you’re sticking out like a sore thumb, not so with Katie! In fact, it felt a lot like simply walking around with a friend who just happens to be an expert on ancient Rome! On that note, she is extremely knowledgeable and shared her knowledge in a casual way versus droning on about every obscure historical fact about every statue and ruin (like some tour guides do). My wife and I were both incredibly impressed with Katie and I cannot imagine a better guide. In fact, we tried our best to do another tour (the catacombs) with her but unfortunately, did not have the time ☹. However, we are referring Katie to all our friends and family traveling to Rome in the future. Request Katie specifically – you will be VERY happy you did!
KATIE gave us a fabulous tour! She is an expat and that actually made the tour very relaxing. She REALLY knows her stuff and you can tell it’s all still very interesting to her (even though she’s telling the same story all the time..haha!). We learned sooo much and the time flew by. And my hubby, who is a huge fan of this historic time, LOVED having someone to discuss all the “things” ;) We opted for a private tour which to us was worth it. We got picked up at our hotel, waited in zero lines, and got a more in depth personalized experience. That Colliseum and Forum require A LOT to digest and having a guide to ourselves made it enjoyable since it was done on our pace. Highly recommend! Great job Katie!
My boyfriend and I took a tour of the Colosseum, the Forum, and the Pantheon with Gianluca Pica. Gianluca found endless ways to make his vast breadth of knowledge accessible, and was willing to tailor the experience to our particular pace and interests. Most importantly, he was delightful to spend time with -- which really matters when you're doing a four-hour tour! He has a wonderful sense of humor and is super easy to talk to. My boyfriend and I commented at lunch after the tour ended that we both actually kinda missed Gianluca, and we should have invited him to join us. Thanks for everything, Eyes of Rome and Gianluca!
Marina was great, she presented everything in a light manner, didnt feel like in a boring history lesson. Time flew easily. Will gladly book ahead on our next visit.
Incredible tour guide and learned so much about Rome’s history. Our guide was so knowledgeable and had pictures with him of what it would have looked like years ago which we appreciated. A must do tour!!!
We had an excellent time on this tour with our friendly and extremely knowledgeable guide, Sylvia. This tour was a perfect start to our stay in Rome! Syliva was able to answer all our questions and gave us a wonderfully in depth tour of both the Colosseum and Roman Forum. Highly recommend this tour!
Elisa was a wonderful guide for the day. She walked us through the forum and the Colosseum while sharing her knowledge and making it fun for the kids. I love the fact that she brought marbles with her for us to play a game that kids used to play in the forum. Our kids still talk about how neat that was.
Our guide Alessandro was excellent and gave us a truly in depth tour of the Colosseum... Alessandro answered all our questions.
Our tour guild’s knowledge of Roman and Latin was very helpful in imagining life in Rome. It was helpful in learning the lifestyle
We had a very positive experience with this tour. Pick up was flawless and the driver pointed out some sights on the way to the Colosseum. He handed us directly to our tour guide Marta who whisked us through the crowds quickly. Marta really knew absolutely everything there can possibly be to know about the Colosseum. She answered our questions, separated fact and fiction, and shared clear pictures of what a day at the games might be like. We then went to the Forum and learned more of the history of Ancient Rome. A word to those planning, the half day is full of information, and those of us who aren’t full history buffs weren’t as enthralled by the Forum as we were by the Colosseum. By the end, we were ready for lunch and a rest. If you are a large diverse age group like us, don’t plan another event on the day you do this tour.
Our tour guide was Mirta whose knowledge and enthusiasm made this one of the best days ever. She has a fantastic way of bringing ancient Rome to life. Great tour made even better by a wonderful guide. (Seamus & Donna-Mae)
This was not my first time doing this tour but wanting to take some professional pictures I could not have asked for a better guide than Denis!! Knowing what I wanted to do, he took me to the best spots to capture some amazing photos all the while giving me great information on everything thing we looked at! Felt like I had great company whilst walking about for hours! Amazing day highly recommend!!!! Thank you Denis
Esperienza molto bella ed interessante… Marco una grande guida!! Consigliatissimo!!! Persona molto piacevole e competente è stato come rivivere l’antica Roma!
We visited Rome in October 2021 with a group of friends. Eyes of Rome provided us with excellent tours of the Vatican and museums (early bird), and with the Colosseum &Forum. I cannot give enough thanks to our guide Gianluca P. for the interesting and informative tours of these magnificent sites. He was articulate, so incredibly knowledgeable and made the tours so fun. He really helped us to imagine and see these places in their heyday, how they got lost for so many centuries, and how they are so much a part of Rome today. He was also very helpful with our many questions about everything from lunch to atms to the subway system. Transportation provided was quick and comfortable. Can’t say enough about Eyes of Rome. The best!!!!
Our guide, Maria was the very best. She is an archeologist and brought it all to life. I highly recommend them.
The most memorable part of our tour Was our WONDERFUL GUIDE ALISA! She was so knowledgeable and personable! She made us feel like we wanted more tours with her. You are lucky to have her !!!
Great tour! Very informative, the guide was very knowledgeable, and he did a good job of keeping things interesting and engaging.
Gianluca gave a great private tour for me during my first trip to Rome. He passed a lot of interesting unknown information, gave time for photos, and didn’t have any issues with lines! Thank you!
Uitstekende ervaring. Silva heeft ons met heel veel passie door de Roman Forum en het Colosseum geleid.
We first contacted Eyes of Rome in 2019 when we began planning our 2020 trip to Italy and wanted to have professional, certified guides for our tours of Rome. From the beginning, communication via email was easy, replies were prompt and proposed itineraries worked well with our schedule. With a teenager and tween in tow, we wanted early morning or late evening tours to avoid the Italian summer heat and Vacation crowds, and Eyes of Rome was happy to help. Our hotel was located on Monte Mario, a bit further from Ancient Rome, and Eyes of Rome coordinated transportation to all three of our tours. When we had to reschedule our trip for 2021, Eyes of Rome applied our deposit to our new itinerary without issue and was very accommodating helping us reschedule. Massimo was our driver for all three tours, greeting us our first morning in Rome with a friendly face and a comfortable, air conditioned Mercedes van. He provided interesting and fun information about the neighborhoods we passed through along the way to our destinations, including a stop at Fontana dell'Acqua Paola for a photo op. Denis guided us on our Saturday morning tour of the Forum and Colosseum; he helped bring to life Ancient Rome through stories and pictures he carried in a book. Denis provided just the right amount of history while keeping a nice pace through the Forum and Colosseum, and taking us to fantastic family picture spots. At the end of the tour, while filling our water bottles just outside the Colosseum and willing the online reservation system to work on my mobile, Denis offered to help by calling the restaurant to secure our lunch reservations. So nice! Marta was our guide on our Sunday evening walking tour of the sites, as well as our morning tour of Vatican city. We first met Marta at a very interesting ancient site beneath Capitoline Hill and she immediately held our attention with the history and stories she told. Although our teenager was less than enthusiastic about the evening’s itinerary, she begrudgingly admitted to enjoying the tour. We met Marta for our final tour of Vatican city early Tuesday morning. Though rules prohibit our guide speaking to us in the Basilica, Marta pointed out things we should be sure to see before entering, and answered our questions immediately after. Unfortunately, the short cut from the Vatican Museums to the Basilica is closed due to the pandemic. After the long walk up the hill and entering the museum, Marta escorted us to a beautiful terrace where, with the aid of her iPad, she walked us through details we would soon see. She prepared us in advance for our time inside the Sistine Chapel with backstories and details to focus on, given the rule of silence while inside the chapel. Our girls faded quickly and Marta adjusted the itinerary so as not to draw out the morning. She helped us navigate quickly to the sites we wanted to see, and avoided unnecessary delays. Our Eyes of Rome guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and accommodating. They helped make our trip excellent.
Huge thanks to Serena for a wonderful early morning tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum on Monday. With our 6 and 3 year old in tow, this might have been a challenge, but Serena's hugely warm, friendly, enthusiastic, patient and understanding manner made it a delight for parents and children alike! Serena brought some fun activities for the kids, along with a gift of colouring pencils and all important sweets, which went down a treat and really helped the kids to engage with ancient Roman life (with a modern Haribo twist!)This really was a family friendly outing. Serena's experience meant we also avoided the worst of the crowds and tourist traps. Would love Serena to guide us again next time we're in Rome! She's lovely! Kate, Ben, George and Florence.
This guided tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide was a professional archeologists and University professor and had a huge depth of knowledge yet he managed to make the trip exciting and interesting for our whole family (2 adults and a 9 year old). The lines for the Colosseum were as colossal as the giant statue that used to reside there - but we got to skip right past them! We also got a special treat and were able to visit Palentine Hill which was mostly free of crowds and really beautiful. From the top of the hill we could see the Circus Maximus! Fun! This was well worth every penny! Highly recommend for all ages! (Also bring good walking shoes!)
My partner and I had a wonderful day with Francesco as our guide. I had seen the Colosseum before, but it was like seeing it for the first time with our expert guide. I would highly recommend the experience to anyone!
I can't speak highly enough of Luisa's depth of knowledge and ability to answer out questions and convey an understanding of the gladiators, the games, and Roman government. I also can't overemphasize having her all to ourselves rather than sharing with a larger group or going it alone. And finally, while the crowds were waiting in various lines, we were able to go right into the Colosseum and Forum. I'm certain on our own we would have had some difficulty even knowing which line to start in! In addition to a great tour, we started right on time, were met at our hotel, and the teaching started in the taxi ride. All financial and booking communications were very complete and accurate. This splurge was money and time well spent significantly enhancing our experience in Rome.
We felt quite lucky to have Azzurra Della Seta as our tour guide for a trip through time to the Coluseum and Roman Forum. She has a terrifically warm personality and is extremely conscientious, which we appreciated immensely. For example, part of our tour included a pickup and drop off at our hotel, in crowded Rome. Azzurra was at the hotel early and ready to scoop us - which helped a great deal as we were running late, but didn’t have to worry. She has great enthusiasm for the periods we wanted to tour, and is exceptional at educating those who also love the knowledge. Azzurra was a wonderful guide, and we had such a fun day with her!
Dos recorridos fantásticos con nuestro guía Francesco Grasso que con sus enormes conocimientos de la historia y una forma de contarla llena de anécdotas y comentarios en un perfecto español, hizo las delicias de todo el grupo. Grazie mille Francesco
Excellent all round . Highly recommend . Extremely knowledgeable, considerate able to explain deeper Thank you
Fabiana provided us with an awesome tour of the Colosseum. She was prompt, professional and extremely knowledgeable about the Colosseum and the Forum. She gave us wonderful, historical view of Rome during the period when the Colosseum was being built and used. We would highly recommend this tour with Fabiana.
We could have not asked for a better experience. Our guide was knowledgeable and professional. We learned and experienced so much more than we would have waiting on long lines and blindly wandering around ourselves.
Alessandra was a great guide. We only had few hours in Rome so we chose to see the Coliseum and Roman ruins. The guide was very knowledgeable and walked us right into the Coliseum with no wait. She took us to the Trevi Fountain and walked to a quiet section of Rome with shops and restaurants where we said goodbye.
Luisa, our tour guide from Eyes of Rome, was extremely friendly and knowledgeable about her home city and the ancient sites we visited. My husband and I did the Private Colosseum Special Tour with Undergrounds & Arena. We really appreciated that Eyes of Rome would pick us up at our hotel room. We learned so much about Roman history, the colosseum, forum, and pantheon. I would definitely recommend Luisa and Eyes of Rome.
We had the best day of our trip 7 years ago visiting the Vatican and many other sites in Rome with Stefania. We were thrilled when we were able to book another tour with her today!. We had an incredible day at cacere marmantino, the Roman forum, coloseum and the Basilica of San Clemente. Only in Rome can you literally walk through 2000 years of history(in one site!) and Stefania made it feel like it was our backyard with a close friend. This company is efficient, follows up on all the details and makes the day effortless ! We cannot thank Stefania enough for making our tour in Rome yet again a never to forget day.
Marco Mancini provided us a wonderful time exploring the Roman Forum and the Colloseum with such expertise and warmth. We couldn't have been more pleased with the tour. Magnificent.
Just returned from a trip to Rome with my wife and son , this tour was great for we never queued , the guide was fantastic and very knowledgeable , picked up and dropped off as agreed . Well worth the money
We booked this tour as we had very little time to explore Rome but wanted to get the most from our visit. Francesco used every moment to bring Ancient Rome to life and entertained us all the way through. As a local, we also enjoyed being shown the plants that grow wild in Rome, Rocket, Mint, Laurel and Juniper. Thank you for sharing your love of Rome.
This was by far my favorite tour while in Rome. Karin was fantastic. We decided to go with a private tour and it was worth every penny. Karin gave us a fabulous tour, rich in information, accommodated our needs, and paced it so we could take the pictures, see what interested us and supplemented it using her IPad and brought with her. My family loved the time we had with her. The pick up and drop off was also great to have. Make sure your accommodations are with in the pick up zone. This made our day so much easier. Thank you Karin for showing us the Colloseum and Forum with so much passion, humor , and enthusiasm. You were great :)
After hearing so much about the Colosseum, this tour did not disappoint. The brutality of the time is so difficult to imagine and gives me some hope that maybe we are making progress over the centuries as evolving humans. The Roman Forum was, in some ways, even more amazing...considering it had all been underground.
Having a guide to take us through the Forum and the Colosseum made the experience much better with our 4 young children. We had a group of nine and the experience was informative and smooth. Our guide was kind and helpful and we are very glad we booked a tour instead of just doing the sites ourselves.
We were blessed to have Sarik as a guide! He knows so much history, he was sharing before and after photos of the Colosseum, he took us through the Forum, details of the working of every part of ancient Rome. He is so knowledgeable, answered every question, invited questions actually. He made this tour an excellent choice for us and we could not be happier with the tour!
We took this tour as the second of 6 days of touring with Eyes of Rome in Rome and the adjacent areas. We extend the tour in advance by adding the Palatine Hill, the Hypogeum (or underground portion of the Colosseum), the Basilica di San Clemente and the Catacombs. The tour was scheduled to last six hours not including lunch. This was our second day touring with Katie. Katie wowed us on our customized City Walking tour and continued to amaze us on this tour. Katie was an Art History major who had gone to Rome on a Fulbright Fellowship and had never left. Katie changed the order of things to make them more efficient. We started out at the Basilica di San Clemente, which had an almost Byzantine looking apse. Like many churches in Rome, it was built on an older church which in turn was built on even older buildings. Portions of these have been excavated and are open via stairways. IMO, the older portion was even more interesting. We saw a mithraeum, a temple of the god Mithras that had been built into a private home. Katie took us to another room which had been the temporary home of Rome’s mint where we could hear running water (which was needed by the mint). After we left, Katie asked if we wanted to go into a nearby shopping mall, which made no sense until we saw that the basement wall included the subterranean water line leading to the mint. As you can tell from this aside, Katie knew the rest of the story and communicated it in an entertaining and informative way. We then walked past a portion of the old gladiator training grounds to the Colosseum for the Hypogeum tour. This was conducted by the Colosseum staff and not the Eyes of Rome guides. While the guide was good and informative, I was disappointed because the accessible area was so small relatively speaking. Due to time constraints we did not do the upper level of the tour and rejoined Katie. Personally, unless your dying to see the wood elevator, you should save your money and skip the Hypogeum. We then started climbing the Palatine Hill and toured the huge palace of Domitian. Katie told us about the now missing highly polished marble walls. We then toured the Farnese Gardens built on the northern portion of the hill with its fabulous views of the Forum. This to me showed ancient Rome at its best. By this time, we were hungry and Katie suggested we try Cavour 313 a wine bar/restaurant nearby. She accepted our invitation to join us but made it quite clear that it wasn’t necessary. I remember the food and wine were both good but I don’t remember enough to post a review. The price was moderate for 3 people with wine. At this point the only thing left was the catacombs. We took a taxi to the Catacombe di Santa Domitilla which was outside the old city limits. My wife and I knew not to expect bodies or skeletons like those in Paris, so the major thing to see were cutout shelfs in the wall. The number of small cutouts was a reminder of how many children never made it adulthood before the invention of vaccines and modern medicine in general. It was remarkable how well Katie knew the various passage ways pretty much like the back of her hand. She again told us a number of stories that kept our interest up. At this point my wife and I were pretty well toured out. Katie was going in a different direction but got us a cab using phone app to get us a cab and stayed around until it arrived After 2 days of touring, Katie and the Eyes of Rome exceeded our expectations in just about every way.
Our guide, Rosalba, is experienced, prepared, expert, cordial and patient. Plus she was early when picking us up at our hotel. The tour was all that was promised - transport, timing, easy access to the attractions, and no lines (!). And she took us to a secret photo overlook of the Colosseum without a single other person there - an unimaginable rarity at attractions in Rome. There is really no better way to see these sites, and no better guide than Rosalba.
We did two private tours with Eyes of Rome - Stefania was our excellent guide. Would thoroughly recommend. Very well organised and responsive (we changed pick up and drop off location at the last minute: no problem!). Made a huge difference to our enjoyment of the visits and certainly we got a lot more out of the time spent at the sites than doing it by ourselves (not to mention that we did not have to queue and managed to avoid the crowds...). We will definitely use Eyes of Rome again. Many thanks Stefania
My wife and I had a private tour of San Clement Church, the Colosseum, Palatine Hill, and the Forum with Luisa De Dominicis. It was an extraordinary experience. Luisa met us at our hotel and we took a cab to the historic area. We had added a fourth hour; and because it was a Sunday, we began at 2:00 pm. Throughout the tour, we marveled at the incredible historic venues and Luisa's outstanding knowledge. She made everything clear, answered all our questions, and set a pace that allowed us to see as much as possible. Because it was Sunday, the venues were crowded; but Luisa made sure we had time to see and experience everything we wanted to do. Her explanations of the history, cultural context, and architecture were all outstanding. I don't think we could have seen as much, learned as much, or enjoyed the tour as much without her. We also had a private four hour tour the following day with Luisa of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peters; and because we had been together the previous day, it was also an extraordinary experience. I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome and Luisa especially for a very special touring experience in Rome.
We went on a Vatican tour with the Eyes of Rome yesterday. It was great, but the tour of the Roman Forum and Colosseum was fantastic. Our tour guide Luisa picked us up in front of our hotel and away we went. She explained everything in great detail. We went early to the Forum and there was hardly anyone there. Then we toured the Colosseum and skipped the lines. All through out Luisa noted interesting facts and answered all of our questions. Would do it agai in a heartbeat!
Barbara de Rosa was my private guide for Forum and Colosseum. Barbara met me at the hotel and we proceeded onto the Forum to start then the Colosseum. Barbara was extremely knowledgeable. It was the best way to see these amazing sites. As she said every rock has a story. And Barbara knew them all. She continued to check in and ask if I had questions or wanted more or less info. I soaked in all she relayed. The history is fascinating and the best way to see is with a guide if you do not have the in-depth historical knowledge. Barbara was personable and fun - It was like touring these fantastic places with a friend... an extremely knowledgeable friend! I can’t recommend these tours enough and Barbara even more as your guide!
We contacted Eyes of Rome requesting a tour for our extended family of 10 on very short notice. Eyes of Rome was very responsive and Claudia and Adam suggested several options that would meet our needs. Given the number of people in our group and one person with mobility limitations, we opted for the private tour of the Colosseum with pickup/dropoff at our accommodations. Our tour guide, Francesco Grasso, arrived right on time with the drivers and took us over to the Colosseum. We spent several hours exploring the Colosseum, and Francesco was able to tell us many stories of the history of the Colosseum and what life was like during ancient times. As it was extremely hot, we stopped many times to rest while Francesco filled us in on different information regarding the Colosseum, and helped refill our water bottles as well from the natural springs on site. The length of the tour was just right for us on a hot summer day, and we enjoyed learning all about the amazing Colosseum. After the tour, Francesco also sent us recommendations for other sights and restaurants to check out in Rome. Thank you, Francesco!
Wonderful guide. Serena Is very knowledgeable about Rome’s history and knows how to make the information relevant and lively.
Allessandro was an amazing guide with vast archeological information on the history of Rome, the Forum and the Colleseum. We highly recommend this tour and tour guide!
This was one of the first tours we took in Rome, just the two of us and our guide. We were picked up at our hotel by the guide and first went to Colosseum. It was a very hot day and we have some mild mobility issues and our guide accommodated us as best as she could, walking a bit slower, took a coffee break, even found an elevator in the Colosseum (who knew?). I cannot remember the name of our guide, but she was experienced, knowledgeable, and full of good humour. There are thousands of tourists milling around these sights and having quicker access , shortcuts, it was invaluable. She gave us time to savour the moment, take some photos, and never overwhelmed us with info or dates, consummate professional. Last part of tour was Roman Forum, where we strolled about, took in some info when we could find a shadier and quieter part of Forum. No need for ear pieces to communicate, no following flags of leader, no looking for stragglers, no struggling to keep up, just the three of us strolling about, having a conversation, if only all tours could be like this!
