We scheduled a private tour and it was fantastic thanks to our guide, Gianlu. Knoweleable, personable, attentive, accommodating and funny, he enriched our three- hour tour tremendously. On a scale of 1 to 5, he is a 10. Seeing the Last Supper in person was a dream I never thought would happen and am so glad it did, especially after all the insights provided by Gianlu. Touring the Sforza Castle and two of the six museums was an added bonus and entering the Pinotechia Ambrosia had viewing pages from Leonardo's Codex and the preliminary drawings - called "cartoon" - by Raphael for The School of Athens was the cherry on top. One of the best tours I've taken. Thank you Gianlu!

Our early morning tour of the Vatican and St. Peter’s Basilica with Gianluca was outstanding! Starting before the crowds made all the difference — we explored the Vatican Museums in peace and could truly appreciate the art. Gianluca was knowledgeable, funny, and perfectly attuned to our pace and interests, highlighting pieces we loved and sharing great stories along the way. The Sistine Chapel was unforgettable, and walking through the special passage into St. Peter’s Basilica was perfect. Thoughtful breaks, fascinating insights, and a relaxed pace — everything about this tour was spot-on. Highly recommend Gianluca for an exceptional Vatican experience!

A terrific experience. We first toured the Santa Maria del Grazie church and then saw the Last Supper. The guide explained a lot in the 15 minutes and also afterwards. We then went to the Duomo. First to the rooftop and then inside. Our guide Gianluca was wonderful. Very knowledgeable. We also took his suggestion afterwards and visited Brera and the museum there. We had a lovely lunch. I would highly recommend Gianluca and this tour.

This was the first time for our family to be in Milan and it was phenomenal. Our tour guide Gianluca was the best tour guide we’ve ever had and we’ve been on many tours over the years. His knowledge of not only Milan but all of Italy and it’s history was incredible - he even recommend restaurants for us to eat at while we stayed in Milan for a few days and they were awesome as well. Could not recommend Gianluca and this tour more highly!

Our guide, Andrea, was friendly, knowledgeable and made our experience touring the Vatican a wonderful learning experience. It was a hot and busy day but Andrea helped us navigate the crowds and have a comfortable, fun experience. One of the highlights was when he showed us how he could turn the giant sphere in the museum. We learned many interesting facts about history, art and the Vatican. Highly recommend!!

Our guide, Gianluca, was amazing. We toured the Forum and Colosseum with him. He was engaging, interesting, thoughtful about breaks, and so knowledgeable about the world, politics, history etc. I highly recommend spending the money on a private tour, especially for a site you are particularly interested in. And Eyes of Rome will not disappoint.

An incredible experience from booking, to meeting our guide Siriki who was so AMAZING and knowledgeable along with our driver Gianluca who stayed with our bags all morning and safely got us to the Port for our sail. This made visiting the Colosseum super fun and VERY easy. It was nice to be able to turn my brain off (I’m the planner of my trip) and be guided by a professional - while still learning something and seeing all the main spots. It was also helpful to not have to wait in long lines and get special access to certain sections. Our guide was Gianluca. He was really good and made us really feel and understand the history! Super chill.

As travelers from Hawaii we were a little nervous about our first trip to Europe. Tours of Rome was nothing short of amazing. We booked multiple tours as well as hotel and airport transfers. Our guide Gianluca was great and made it wonderful for our group of all ages. Look no further booking with this company is the way to do it!

We visited Colosseum, Forum, and Palatine Hill on a private tour with Gianluca. He was an excellent guide! He was super knowledgeable about the sites and their historical context & also knew the logistical ins and outs of visiting these very popular spots. He had a great sense of humor and was flexible in terms of seeing what we were most interested in, taking breaks for the gift shop and drinks, answering questions, & making other local recommendations. If you can swing it, a private tour is a great way to appreciate these monuments. Highly recommend!

Gianluca was fabulous- very knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. He was able to share minute details in a beautiful storytelling manner that had me in a spell from beginning to end. A painting of the Last Supper hung in my mother’s kitchen growing up, so it was very special for me to understand so many facts about how it came about, it’s history and careful restoration- the reason I came to Milan and thanks to Gianluca- an absolute highlight. Grazie Gianluca- you are a gifted guide ♥️♥️

We expected this visit to the Forum and Colosseum to be one of the highlights of the trip and it do not disappoint. Luca was our guide and he was great. He was extremely knowledgeable and flexible in explaining the things that we were more interested in. He used maps and photos he brought with him to help us visualize the original layout and appearance of the sites; that was very helpful. He was later kind enough to email us files of some of the materials he used so we would have them as a reference. He was also happy to offer to take photos for us as a couple., which was very convenient. Gracie Luca!

Our personal guide Gianluca gave wonderful tours of the Duomo and Last Supper. He was very knowledgable and we learned so much history and details about both places. This was well worth the money spent for the private tour - we got to avoid the lines and learned a lot more than doing it on our own.

I took my daughter on the Early Bird Vatican tour as she needed a wheelchair and the more room the better. Without Gianluca, this visit would have been A) impossible and B) half as informative. It is true there are lifts at the Vatican for wheelchairs, but many of them are hidden, his knowledge was essential to get around. He was also filled with fascinating knowledge at every turn, you would think he had been born in the Vatican museum! If we come back soon we will be asking him to take us somewhere else. Thank you for an amazing experience.

I am disabled and need private guides when touring. Giancarlo was accommodating to my special needs. He took care of using lifts to avoid stairs and gaining entry to the Basilica through the Holy Doors without waiting in line. He also asked me right away what I wanted to spend time on since this was my third visit to the Vatican museums and all. I loved visiting the Pinoteca for the first time. He helped me get a seat in the Sistine Chapel. I had plenty of time to view the frescoes. We spent lots of time in the Basilica. He showed me some parts that I have never seen. When I mentioned that they were playing my mother’s favorite, Adeste Fidelis, he suggested that I take a video so I could record the music for her. He took me to a good store at the end. The driver who took me to meet the guide was friendly. The only thing missing was that other guides have shown greater interest in me as a person. I like to talk about what I know and past experiences. He didn't engage with me when I told anecdotes. He is knowledgeable and polite.

Amazing Tours with Eyes of Rome (second time) We visited Rome a couple of years ago - and l happed to select Eyes of Rome for some tours. I wrote a review back then - we were *super* happy with our experience. 2 years later - we were heading back - 3 of us who had been on the first trip, and one additional person. I reached out to the team at Eyes of Rome - and they immediately thanked me for coming back to them - and were able to pull up all of the details from our first visit with them. Given what we had seen before - and the fact we had one new traveler - they crafted an amazing itinerary so that our new traveler got to see everything, and for the 3 original travelers there was a new approach to some of the visits that made the second time just as much fun. During our first trip we met Marta - who was amazing. You can just tell how much she loves her country and culture - and she is so amazingly smart, and always made sure we had a great understanding an appreciation for everything we got to see. Since we knew it was going to be very warm - we broke our tours up into mornings and later in the day - giving everyone some time to rest and freshen up between the tours. On the first morning - Daniel picked us up and we met Marta near where our tour was to begin. We visited the Hypogeum (Colosseum's Underground), which we hadn't seen on our first visit to the Colosseum. We also visited the Imperial Roman Forum. Marta picked out an amazing traditional place for lunch - and we even managed to convince her to eat with us :) Daniel picked us back up in the late afternoon, and dropped us off with Azzurra for our evening food and wine tour. We walked through the charming areas of Campo de' Fiori, the Jewish Ghetto and Trastevere. Near the famous piazza of Campo de' Fiori we visited an artisan deli where we enjoyed some Roman wine paired with typical Italian delicacies from a family who has specialized in cured meats since 1890. In the Jewish Ghetto - we were able to sample the famous fried artichoke which was paired with a really wonderful bottle of Prosecco. We also stopped at a great Gelato shop before our tour was over - which was the best way to end this amazing tour! The next day - we did a nice walking tour with Marta - that included the Pantheon, the Spanish Steps, the Piazza Navona, and the Trevi Fountain. Marta really made the Roman culture and history come alive! During our first trip, the Vatican and Sistine Chapel were very crowded - so the team suggested we do a late afternoon / evening visit. It was a great suggestion, and although it was still busy, it was much less crowded than our first visit. We were with Marta again - who explained so much about everything we saw. We were happy to be back. We worked with Eyes of Rome to get a ride from Rome to the cruise terminal. Luca met us promptly and we had a smooth, trouble free ride and made it to our ship without problem. Our cruise shipped docked in Pisa - but didn't have any tours that we were interested in. Luckily I found out that Eyes of Rome covers Pisa and Florence too! Tomasso met us at the cruise terminal - and was our driver for the day. He was great! Our first tour was Pisa. We met Anne Marie right near the tower. Anne Marie did an amazing job of telling us all about Pisa, the tower, and the history of both. Tomasso then drove us to Florence where we met Giada. She knew Florence like the back of her hand and was *so* excited to show us around. It was a quick visit, but we were able to visit of Accademia Gallery with Michelangelo's David which was truly amazing. We walked around Florence with Giada who explained so much about the history and the culture. She also helped us visit a typical Florentine shop for the best sandwich any of us have ever eaten in our lives! Tomasso then drove us back to our ship and made sure we arrived in plenty of time. We *loved* our second tour with Eyes of Rome - and will definitely check back with them when we return to Italy

Eyes of Rome, golf cart tour was amazing! It was a perfect thing to go everywhere and see everything in Rome. Our guide Marco was absolutely amazing with a wealth of knowledge, a great personality and sense of humor. He showed us hidden gems as well as all of the spots that you want to see In-depth. He told us great stories of the city, and all the sites as well. Gave us great tips for the rest of our stay in room also. Our driver, Eduardo was also extremely nice and very knowledgeable as well. They drove us all over the entire city, all the way up to the mountain of Gianicolo hill. It was an amazing view up there. This is absolutely the best way to see Rome! Definitely ask for Marco as your guide, as an archaeologist, he knew so much about all of the details of the city, and like I said, especially the hidden gems! What a wonderful experience. Excellent guide, Gianluca Pica via Eyes of Rome. Booked last minute given was let down by Viator/original tour company and had to book last minute as a result. Hadn't planned on booking fully private but availability was somewhat limited and hence the tour was considerably more expensive than planned. That said, enjoyable, informative tour of both the Colloseum and Forum which I am happy recommending. Excellent tour guide, rating more an indication of the Viator experience than the tour guide/company who conducted the tour. In fact I emailed Viator directly with this feedback and thus far haven't had so much as a response.

We spent three hours with the brilliant Gianluca touring the Colosseum and Forum. It was fab. My teenage sons are quite shy and were quiet but they have since said that it was the best part of our trip to Rome. We all learned so much beyond the familiar facts and came away with a clear idea of how ancient Rome and its buildings, monuments and people developed over time. It was good fun, absorbing and Gianluca was a fantastic guide. It was a luxury to have a private guide but I think actually good value because of how much we all benefited compared to the very large groups touring alongside us. On our next visit to Rome we would definitely seek out this company again.

Our private tour was with Gianluca Pica. We didn’t meet him at the hotel, but a nearby square. He was very knowledgeable about Rome and it’s history. It is a long walk, but the best way to see the sights as they appertain to the book/film, Angels & Demons. We both thoroughly enjoyed the tour. You are shown things you would never normally notice. Gianluca was very courteous about coffee/loo breaks and general comfort levels. The churches en route, whilst commonplace in Rome, are spectacular. Worth giving this a try, even if you haven’t any interest in the book.

I cannot give enough thanks to our guide Gianluca P. for the interesting and informative tours of these magnificent sites. He was articulate, so incredibly knowledgeable and made the tours so fun. He really helped us to imagine and see these places in their heyday, how they got lost for so many centuries, and how they are so much a part of Rome today.

This guided tour was one of the highlights of our trip. Our guide was a professional archeologists and University professor and had a huge depth of knowledge yet he managed to make the trip exciting and interesting for our whole family (2 adults and a 9 year old). The lines for the Colosseum were as colossal as the giant statue that used to reside there - but we got to skip right past them! We also got a special treat and were able to visit Palentine Hill which was mostly free of crowds and really beautiful. From the top of the hill we could see the Circus Maximus! Fun! This was well worth every penny! Highly recommend for all ages! (Also bring good walking shoes!)

We had such a positive experience with Eyes of Rome five years ago during our first trip to Rome, we decided to use them again for a private tour of the Colosseum and Roman Forum. We were not disappointed. Gianluca met our family of four (ages 16-63) promptly at our hotel, and we walked to the Roman Forum together. He had such a wealth of information on both sites and presented it in a fun and interesting way, not to mention the convenience of skipping the long line at the Colosseum and being able to walk right in. Gianluca knew just the right spots away from the crowds to stop and explain things along the way. He squeezed in so much information, yet was very accommodating to us and allowed plenty of time for picture taking, etc. I would highly recommend Eyes of Rome and wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

It is hard to imagine fully appreciating the history and art of Rome unless you have a guide who has studied and has a passion for both. Gianluca Pica has the knowledge and passion to bring Rome's history and art to life -- cannot recommend him highly enough!!

Our tour guide Gianluca picked us up at our hotel and knew we only had the day to see as much as Rome as possible. He took us to all the best sites around Rome and along the way explained all about Roman history. I highly recommend him!

Many thanks to Gianluca Pica, our tour guide, whose knowledge and passion for all things Roman made this the best three hours of sightseeing in Rome. I would definitely recommend a private tour to at least one venue while visiting Rome. The level of information you acquire is beyond that available during a group tour.

Two separate tours with Gianluca on 12/23 (Colosseum and Roman Forum) and 12/24 (Vatican City). I would really recommend this for private tour for 1st time visitors and families. Gianluca was very informative and provided interesting historical perspectives at each location - not only for me but also our two boys!

Although the choices for reviews only allowed for one tour, our experience was so exceptional that we booked four days. We were fortunate to be led by Gianluca, who is not only knowledgeable, but passionate about Roman history and art. My sister and I felt as though we understood in a very complete way the link between the art and architecture and the history that created it. While one would need much more time than the week we had to explore these subjects, we had the best foundation. We had loads of questions in all areas and Gianluca always had the answer at the ready! In other words, he was patient and available. I recommend without reservation!

Our guide Gianluca was articulate, well-informed and funny! 40 years ago we walked thru the Forum and had no idea what we were looking at. This time with Gianluca we were able to appreciate it so much more! He even brought illustrations of what it originally looked like. Because of our early start we had the place to ourselves and it was even more moody and atmospheric. At the Colosseum, we negotiated through the crowds and got the picture we had missed on another trip. The Company even refunded my money when I couldn't make it through the extra hour I had requested. Now that's professionalism!! Great morning. Great guide. Great memory.

Gianluca was an excellent tour guide with a lot of history knowledge on various areas. We liked the private tour unlike those big bus tours with guides who hold up flags and signs! and having the ability to ask questions and stop whenever we wanted to.... We even stopped in for a nice gelato break where there was a breeze on a hot summer day. I highly recommend the private tour by Eyes of Rome Storytellers!

Gianluca Pica--our guide was amazing. We had limited time in Rome and wanted to make the best of our time in Rome. Would highly recommend seeing this area of the city with Gianluca. Now I wish I had payed more attention in History class. This tour made me want to learn more about Ancient Rome! Will definately look them up while in Rome again.

My family and I enjoyed two fantastic private tours with our guide Gianluca. He was knowledgeable and infinitely patient despite all of our many questions for him!

I made an 11th hour booking with Eyes of Rome when it became apparent that it would be pretty tiring to do alone in the heat and the crowds of the summer crush. Despite the sticker shock, we were not disappointed. Gianluca was an excellent and knowledgable guide, able to keep our 10- and 12-year-olds’ attention for three hours despite imparting a lot of information. He was able to bring alive the Forum, which may otherwise have been just a pile of pillars and rubble to them.

We had Gianluca Pica as our guide from The Eyes of Rome for an early morning tour of the Vatican, Sistine Chapel and the Basilica, and an afternoon tour of the Colosseum a the Forum. He spoke excellent English and was well versed in the history of Rome and the places we visited. He used images of the places we visited as they existed which helped us understand the antiquities we visited. I cannot think of a more perfect guide for Rome other than Gianluca.

Thanks to Gianluca Pica, we had an unforgettable experience in visiting the best sights of Rome. We were able to customize the tours according to our preferences with VIP treatment and no waiting in queues. Gianluca is the best story teller you can meet. He made us live through the history of Rome from the 10th century B.C. till the recent Vatican history. His passion and deep knowledge of Roman history made us live a wonderful time and enjoy the sightseeing experience from a totally different perspective.

Last week my family and I (two adults and a boy of 8) visited Rome. An unforgettable moment , even in the pouring rain. Very friendly and clear information , from a professional and very entertaining guide. Gianluca also showed images of the Ancient Time in Rome, and gave us the opportunity to translate his explanation to our youngest son. He certainly has got an excellent idea of the life in Ancient Rome now. Two days later we went to the vatican museum and St Pieter, also with skip the line tickets. Also these three hours were super interesting, with a lot of info we did not read in the classical brochures. Gianluca is a man who leads the profession as a guide to the higher level. Thank you very much for your 'teaching' moments, and we hope to meet again!!!

As a party of 10 we had a guided tour of the Colosseum and Forum Romanum which we had organised through our hotel concierge. Our guide, Gianluca Pica, was excellent. He was very knowledgeable and really seemed to enjoy sharing it all with us. He patiently answered all our questions and made the ancient stories come alive. The tour cost €60/hour with a minimum of 3 hours which was split between the whole group. We also paid extra for Fast Track tickets to beat the queues as they were quite long even though we were told it was fairly quiet as it was February. We fitted in both the Colosseum and the Forum quite comfortably in the 3 hours and also had time for a coffee break in between. I would recommend Gianluca and Eyes of Rome to anyone who wants a really fun, interesting, informative and fascinating tour of any of Rome’s ancient sites.

Gianluca was very informative and worth the extra money of a private tour! We had coffee at a local cafe' and learned about some of the culture of Rome. Gianluca was born and raised in Rome and speaks very good English. Thanks for the tour!
